💗 Some pretty in pink macarons. October is more than just a month of pink. It’s also National Bullying Prevention Month. 🧡💙
💗 A couple weeks ago, I was bullied online after posting my bakery on a local foodie site. Someone decided to crap on my name (that’s not the word I wanted to use but I’m keeping this PG). I believe the person was actually thinking of “Little Miss Aloha” rather than “Little Miss Hula”. 🤷🏻♀️
💗 This person decided to reply with attacking and insulting comments. I was in tears. And then more negative comments mocking my feelings. The person was subsequently removed from the group after several members reported the negative comments. But the damage was done. Sadly, it didn’t end there. The next day I received a threatening PM that I removed her friend from the foodie group and I needed to fix it or she would do her best to make sure no one supported me.
💗 I’ve reported the extortion to the police in case it went any further. I won’t share what business it was, but at least I can block them. I realize they can just create a new profile (like they did to send the PM), but hopefully this doesn’t go any further. I truly do not understand how some people can be so cruel. I’m just trying to find some sanity in this insane world. If that person succeeded at defaming our bakery, it would take away all the donations and charity that our unofficial nonprofit business supports.
🧡💙 This is a current, real life example of why National Bullying Prevention Month exists. Every move we make has ripples that we may never see. So please, 🙏🏽 take that extra effort to promote kindness and inclusion. You never know who you might be harming on the end of those ripples. 🌊
