It’s been a while. Life has gotten more complicated, yet simpler. The house is a beautiful mess of noise and clutter. The days are spent together, happily driving each other nuts. This has been more important than baking bread.

And this is a celebratory emoji to announce that we will be welcoming our second kiddo to the world next month!

The path to our first born was paved and direct. The journey this time around was circuitous, tumultuous, and continues to keep us on our toes. We feel overwhelmingly grateful to be close to meeting our rainbow, the final addition to the family. (Human addition, at least. Who knows how many cats I’ll accumulate in this lifetime…)

This all means that September is the final month of this year that you can get your hands on our breads and granola. We apologize that we will not be baking for the holidays, but know that we are thankful to you, our family, for all your support. We look forward to baking for you again once we get back into a groove! Till then,

Of course it doesn’t bother me that the ingrate known as my son consumed only two bites of this delicious homemade Almond Coconut Sourdough French toast and continued to dip strawberry after strawberry into maple syrup. DOESN’T BOTHER ME AT ALL!!!!!!

Most of the time, baking bread is a peaceful experience. Then there are the few times that I wonder, are those palpitations?!

There have been lots of behind-the-scenes changes in the home bakery. This includes introducing oval bannetons to make these longer loaves, aka batards. Pretty, no?

We have also been (continually and happily) adapting to our new ovens, testing recipes, and trying to streamline the baking process while our personal lives continue to demand more. It’s been a difficult, exciting, and important exercise to strive to do better, while maintaining personal sanity. (“I think we’re getting there!” she exclaims, with false confidence through a clenched smile…)

All joking (mostly) aside, I feel humbled that you allow me to nourish you. It is a deeply personal thing, to feed another, and it is one of my great loves in this life. Thank you for following me on this journey.

March marks the return of our Chive Dill Sourdough. All proceeds from this bread this month will be donated to the Ukraine Crisis Fund via . This organization provides immediate aid (food, water, hygiene kits, cash assistance…) to those affected by the violence in Ukraine. It will focus on women and girls, families and the elderly.
