This morning, all Texas Twang products at Martin’s were seized. This is not a post I ever imagined I would have to make, but I owe our customers and community an explanation.
Back in April, Texas Twang was reported to New York State. We received a letter stating that we had been warned, but we were not aware that we were required to respond. Because we did not respond, I am now being told that I can no longer sell anywhere in New York State. We are doing everything we can to correct the situation and become reinstated, but until then, all Texas Twang sales must stop.
To whoever reported my small business, I truly hope you’re happy. What may have felt like a simple complaint to you has now resulted in my products being taken from a local store and one of the only things keeping me going being ripped away during the darkest period of my life.
Many of you noticed that I was gone for much of May and June. During that time, while my husband was deployed, we lost our twins to miscarriage. It was my second miscarriage in under a year, and I have been struggling mentally and emotionally ever since. I had to endure that loss without my husband beside me, and this business gave me a reason to get out of bed, keep moving and pour my grief into something meaningful.
Texas Twang has also been helping us save to begin IVF, which is $20,000 per round. After two miscarriages and losing three babies in less than a year, every loaf sold meant far more to us than a sale. It represented another small step toward hope and the possibility of finally bringing home a baby.
I also want to express how incredibly grateful I am to Martin’s and Crosstown Local Market for supporting me and my small business. They gave Texas Twang a place in their stores and continued to stand behind what I built. I sincerely apologize for any stress, inconvenience or burden this situation has caused them on their end. They did not deserve to be put in the middle of this, and I will never take their support for granted.
I have worked incredibly hard to build this business, follow the rules as I understood them and serve this community with something made by my own hands. Watching everything be taken from Martin’s this morning was devastating, but I am not giving up. We are actively working to understand exactly what is required, correct this issue and become reinstated as soon as possible. I will share updates when I have them, but for now, I am legally unable to sell any products in New York State.
To everyone who has purchased a loaf, visited the stand, supported our store drops, shared a post or simply encouraged me: thank you. Texas Twang became so much more than a business during the worst season of my life. I can only pray this is a pause and not the end of everything we have worked so hard to build.
