We just found out you went to Wyrd Meadery in Portland, Oregon, and tried their mead. In our state. Something local, something handmade, something with real heart behind it. And you still haven’t made it to us?

I’m not mad. Okay, I’m a little mad. You had mead in Oregon and somehow still haven’t had pie in Oregon? That’s like going to the Shire and skipping second breakfast entirely. Reason 24: We keep the magic alive.

Willow is seven. She’s our honorary hobbit. Between naps and slaying dragons, she still finds time to write notes on every single pie bag that goes out the door. “Your pie awaits.” “You beautiful hobbit, you.” That’s not marketing. That’s a kid who already understands what we’re building here.

For those just joining us: we’re Second Breakfast Pies, and we’re positively heckling Billy and Dom, the actors who played Pippin and Merry, every single day until they come eat our pie.

Reason 23: Eugene, Oregon is a special place.

In 1972, a young Dolly Parton rolled through town, exhausted, sick, thousands of miles from Tennessee. Eugene showed up anyway. Loved her so hard she wrote us a song about it.

That’s the heart of this place. Is it any wonder Second Breakfast grew out of soil like that?

Reason 22: Our Second Breakfast Club is the best in Middle-earth. 💗💗💗

They’ve shown up for us through thick and thin. Not just buying pie, but encouraging us, believing in us, voting with every single dollar for what we stand for. They don’t have to do that. They choose to.

In a country that feels like it’s in a dark place right now, that choice means everything. It’s what keeps us moving forward, knowing we’re building something worthwhile because of them.

Billy, Dom, you’ve met people all over the world who believe in something bigger than themselves. We’d love for you to meet ours.

Voice is out today, but the heckling never stops!!!

Reason 21:We’re a gem that has to be found.

No brick and mortar. No permanent address. We’re holding out for something bigger, an actual Hobbiton, built right here in Oregon, one festival at a time.

If you really want to find us, come to the Eugene Mushroom Festival, Sunday, October 25th. That’s home. That’s our community, the Second Breakfast Club, the people who’ve supported us through thick and thin since day one.

Billy, Dom, your opportunities are dwindling.

Davey and I head to Scotland on October 28th, and our online ordering system will be paused from October through mid-November. We’ll be back up at the Saturday Market through December, and at the Holiday Market starting in November with frozen meat pies.

Starting next Monday, you can pre-order your Thanksgiving pies right on our website. Online ordering reopens in time to get your holiday order in.

This fall is really it. Come find the gem while it’s still hiding.

Reason 18: We are changing the world.

Davey turned to me and asked, “Can you imagine?” And yeah, I actually can. That’s what this has been about the whole time!

Not just jokes. Not just followers. A dream that the love we put into this pie could ripple out and change something. We want to teach them, show them how we make it, the recipes, the legacy our grandparents handed down to us. Because that’s an extraordinary kind of love, and the world needs more of it, not less.

Lately, you’ve been dreaming with us, sending photos, heckling alongside us, showing up. So here’s the real invitation: keep dreaming with us. Let’s get all four hobbits into Second Breakfast.

We only have three festivals left this year to try our pie. First up, McMinnville Highland Games, starting tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Come dream with us in person.

Reason 14: Our produce is organic and locally sourced as much as possible.

Quick produce tip while we’re here: check the barcode. If it’s five digits starting with a 9, it’s organic, grown without synthetic pesticides. If it’s four digits starting with a 3 or 4, it’s conventional, and those pesticides may still be there even after washing. Either way, give your produce a good rinse.
