This week, we’re traveling to Saigon, Vietnam!

Did you know Vietnamese iced coffee got its start because fresh milk was hard to come by in French colonial Vietnam? Sweetened condensed milk became the delicious workaround, and it’s been a staple ever since. Locals call it cà phê sữa đá, and it’s just as much a ritual as it is a drink, slow-dripped over ice for that perfect bold-meets-sweet balance.

Our August drink specials:

📍London, England: London Fog- floral and bright earl grey tea with sweet vanilla syrup and a fluffy layer of steamed milk

📍Kyoto, Japan: Kuromitsu- traditional earthy matcha with kuromitsu syrup (a warm caramel molasses flavor) try it hot or iced

📍Turin, Italy: Marocchino- Italian cappuccino with a generous dusting of cocoa powder

📍Saigon, Vietnam: Vietnamese iced coffee- Iced dark roast coffee sweetened and flavored with sweetened condensed milk, a beloved drink in Vietnam

📍Flensberg, Germany: Pharisaer- A rum and coffee drink with a layer of whipped cream, a drink adored in pubs in Germany (21+)

This week, we’re traveling to Turin, Italy!

Did you know the Marocchino gets its name from its color, a rich caramel-brown that resembles Moroccan leather (a fancy import once used for hatmaking)! It’s actually a spin-off of Turin’s centuries-old Bicerin, a layered coffee-chocolate drink that’s been a local treasure since the 1700s. Turin basically invented the art of layering coffee, chocolate, and milk into something delicious.
