Real life clothing and clay update!

I am so far down a vintage slip cast mold rabbit hole, that there's no coming back. This lovely internet lady sent me four macrame bead molds from 1976, and they are top tier. *Also, I won't be apologizing for my overuse of the word "cool"...my brain is tired from a long work week, and you're seeing the pure excited reactions from me in real time🤣

Having legit studio space in our new home means I can pop down before or after work, before bed, whenever. It's a game changer! Mostly, I'm just having so much fun. All my little ghosts are in the final drying stages before being fired, or waiting to be uploaded from the kiln. So stoked to see how everything turns out✌️

Even though I'm dabbling in slip casting, I'm still throwing and hand building🫶 Just like the rest of my hobbies, I love to dabble🤣 I have a vision for this jug, and I can't wait to bring it to life! This was a hefty 5 lbs of clay after not hitting the wheel for 3 months, so I am pretty happy with how it turned out so far! Now onto trimming before it's first firing✌️

Good news, my shop is officially back open!

While unpacking boxes and settling into my new studio, I came across a handful of pieces I had made before the move but never quite finished. It felt like finding little treasures. 😊

I finally completed them in the new space, including some colorful peace sign wall hangings and the sweetest little sun trinket dishes. They're now available in the shop and ready for their new homes.

I have so many things in the works right now, and it feels so good to be creating again. I can't wait to share what I've been working on. Thanks for being here and following along on this adventure!

It’s actually happening, friends! "Grateful" doesn't even cover it. Watching this dream come to life piece by piece is completely overwhelming in the best way possible.

​I really couldn't do any of this without Nikolas Itnyre. As usual, he has been supporting and encouraging every single wild idea I throw his way around our entire home.

Creating and pouring love into this space together is truly a dream come true. So, so thankful for our little fam and for this sweet little life we’re making.

I did it! This beautiful 1975 strawberry pitcher is finally out of the mold, and I couldn't be more excited to see it come to life.

One of the things I love most about pottery is that there are so many ways to create. Every method teaches you something different, and the more you learn, the more you can combine techniques and make them your own. That's the part of this craft that gets me most excited.

This project has been such a good reminder that there's always something new to learn, no matter how long you've been making pottery. The possibilities truly feel endless.

Keep experimenting, keep getting curious, and don't be afraid to try something new. You never know what you'll create.

I got the slip into the mold, still can't find anything in the studio, and I'm starting to kind of understand mold straps. 😆

The learning curve is real, but it's been a lot of fun. I can't wait to share the demolding process!

Unhinged first attempt at slip casting a 1975 strawberry pitcher mold. 🍓✨

Do I have any business learning a completely new skill before I've fully unpacked and organized my studio? Absolutely not.

But here we are.

At least I found my roller skates and hung up the disco ball, which are clearly essential components of a fully functional pottery workspace. 😂

This is my first real dive into figuring out slip casting. The concept seems straightforward enough, but the actual process feels a little intimidating. I've been asking every expert I know approximately one million questions, so I'm hoping I'll get the hang of it eventually.

Once I understand the process, I have some really fun ideas brewing for future releases. I'm completely obsessed with these vintage molds, and my brain is already spinning with ways to make them feel a little more me.

Will this strawberry pitcher turn out? Who knows.
Will I keep trying until it does? Absolutely.

I know I look a little cray cray here, but this photo marks one of the biggest moments in my pottery journey. 🤯❤️

Can you guess what it is?

I recently paid a visit to my favorite local pottery supplier (Gem Ceramics), who's phone number is literally saved in my phone as "Roger-Glaze Dealer." His shop is conveniently located right below the pottery studio where I take classes, which means he sees a lot of me.

This wasn't an impulse purchase. In fact, it's the result of nearly two years of asking questions, researching options, changing my mind, asking more questions, and trying to figure out what made the most sense for my future in clay. It also included the most supportive husband on the planet always and forever cheering me on, and pushing me to dream big and "do the damn thing" (Love you big, Nikolas Itnyre 🥰)

The timing also had to be right. We needed to get somewhat settled into our new home, have a plan for an additional outdoor structure, and, most importantly, accept the fact that pottery isn't going anywhere in my life. I love it too much.

I brought my sidekick O along for the adventure. At one point, O very innocently asked (in front of Roger🫣) why we couldn't just buy it online. I explained that when you have the chance to support local businesses and the people who invest in you, that's almost always the better choice.

Roger has spent so much time patiently answering my endless questions, walking me through options, talking me off a ledge a few times, and sharing his knowledge every step of the way. When it came time to buy, he even matched an online deal without me asking.

That's the kind of service, expertise, and community you don't get from a website.

So if you can shop local and support the people who support your passions, do it.

Now for the important question...What do you think I bought? 👀

Hint: It should arrive in 10 to 12 weeks, and I am internally screaming with excitement.
