When Martins Pretzel Bakery started in 1932, the Hearth, or "Health" pretzel as they called it, was what they originally made. The only difference between the Hearth pretzels and our regular pretzels is that before they are baked, they get boiled in Soda water instead of Lye water. This gives them the texture more like a cracker. They are lighter in color, have slightly less flavor, but are still absolutely scrumptious.
A perfect week to give the Hearth pretzels a try and travel back in time to the original days of the bakery 🌟🌾🥨

More Better Butter on the way!

All of our pretzels are hand rolled and twisted, except the whole wheat and butter pretzels. The moist consistency of the dough makes it too difficult to hand roll them. So a couple times a week we fire up this old "whole wheat machine" that has been spitting them out for many a year!
