I do not like raw, fresh apples by themselves, but give me some to play with and I REALLY like them dipped in chocolate, caramel, topped with Oreos, candy corn, M&Ms, Reese’s cups, pecans…. OKAY!!!!!

Finishing the week on a high note (and probably a high blood sugar count). My baking was spot on, I was well-organised, and everything came out spectacularly.
Wrapping up the good times with fall petit fours, carrot cake cupcakes, mini key lime cupcakes, brown butter chocolate chip cookies, and red velvet sandwich cookies. What an incredible, beautiful, and delicious time I have had!

I have been super-excited and oh-so-eager to put this cake together! 4 layers of devils food cake, sandwiched with peanut butter frosting and then smothered with chocolate frosting all around.
The only badness is that this beauty is heading out of town.

It’s hard to resists this pie. The textures and flavours are a real treat for the mouth and tastebuds. The crust is crisp and that custard is creamy and, what is a coconut cream pie without toasted meringue?!?! The meringue adds that perfect fluffy layer which compliments the custard and crust so much. Over that I added toasted coconut flakes for extra texture and decadence.

I always wanted to make a coconut pie as good as Cutt’s. And this recipe gave me one that is BETTER!!

A little too dark on top with the coconut being added before browning the meringue, but that is a lesson learned for next time. The filling is AMAZINGLY PERFECT!

Tanghulu!!!
A traditional Chinese delicacy of candied fruits.

I first had this in Tulsa, OK on my vacation this summer. I read about it in a local magazine AND it was on sale that day at a shop in the Mother Road Food Hall (Rt 66).

However, just after I placed my order, I realised I had lost my phone (!!!). About when my panic began to get out of control, I went to check my friend’s car and found it. WHEW!

After that drama, I didn’t care about my dessert so much. When I got back to my AirBNB, I put it aside and took a nap.
BUT when I ate it, I LOVED IT! It was light and unique.

I had not thought much of it until this week when I was flooded with FB reels on how to make it. It seemed simple enough.

And it was.

I am just over here playing with my food again.
