Food Allergies Suck!
Hello Fellow Food Challenged Folk!
Having food allergies or a food intolerance, whether it’s you or a child, can be challenging to say the least. There is a hyper-aware state that you exist in; constantly thinking “is this safe?” IT”S EXHAUSTING....and I can relate!! Several years ago as a bread-loving/cookie-eating adult I developed food allergies and an intolerance that would impact not only what I eat but would impact family meals also. This had it’s own unique challenges. It was however, a conversation that I had with my fun-loving nephew Nathan (who is allergic to peanuts) that sparked the idea for The LOKal Bakery. We were at a birthday party and it was time for cake; but alas he and I were on the sidelines due to our allergies. His mom was prepared and had his special “party” muffins at the ready. While I sat with him (wishing that I too had been prepared) I realized that even though he 100% understood why he couldn’t eat that cake he still felt a little left out. My heart just couldn’t take it; I had to take action. Armed with my passion to feed people and a determination to make a difference in my community I started the path that has lead me back to the basics. Through countless hours of research, learning, and many failed recipes (some my dog even growled at) I have developed a line of products that will deliciously enrich the food lives of those whom normally don’t have the convenience of safe fresh baked goods outside of their own kitchen. Now, thanks to the Oklahoma Home Bakery Act 2017 I am able to share the fruits of my labor.
The LOKal Bakery is committed to providing quality safe baked goods that are Wheat Free, Gluten Free, and Peanut Free utilizing as many local resources as possible. Everything is baked to order and delivered from my oven to your door.
