Making Room
When I first came to Celebrate Recovery, my cupboard was full. It was full of incorrect beliefs and lies from the enemy. Shame sat on the shelves like it belonged there. Fear took up space without permission. Unworthiness felt like it had a permanent place. And the truth of who God says I am had nowhere to go.
I didn’t even realize how full it was until I opened the doors and things came tumbling out.
Making room began quietly. Not with fixing everything at once, but with honesty. With noticing what had been sitting in me for far too long.
Some of what I found had been there so long it seemed to be truth that belonged. But not everything that fills me is meant to stay in me.
So I began to take inventory of what was stored inside, what I had believed, what I had carried, what I had allowed to stay. And in the process, the Holy Spirit helped me see what needed to be released.
As I brought it into the light, something shifted. What once felt like truth began to lose its grip.
“And when all things are brought out to the light, then their true nature is clearly revealed” Ephesians 5:13 GNT
And slowly, space began to open, space for truth, space for grace, space for what God had been offering me all along.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord…”plans to give you a hope and a future” Jeremiah 29.11 NIV
Making room is never about emptiness, It is always about what God wants to bring in.
