Parrish Highlander's ATV Club Our dedication to the advancement of ATV & UTV riding shows up on each of our 50+ miles of our trails in Langlade County, WI.

Welcome to the Parrish Highlanders ATV Club. We've come a long way from just 12 members 21 years ago to our current membership numbers nearing 300. Our dedication to the advancement of our sport shows up on each mile of our trails.

Each year our club adds new trails in Langlade Counties' bountiful 125,000 acres of forest. We now have over 60 miles of forest trails to enjoy with a beautiful shelt

er and several trail heads. We actively participate in the Ride Smart Program, by training members of our own club to become DNR Safety Instructors and Trail Patrols for our trails to keep them safe for everyone. We are currently working with other clubs in an effort to connect trails from Langlade County, Wisconsin to Michigan.

Please be aware new rules start on 6.1.2026. If you're driving an ATV or UTV, you are responsible to know the rules. Be safe and have fun!

The new Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources ATV / UTV lawbook is out. The photo goes over some of the key changes. Based on some of the posts we have read online, we wanted to help clarify a few things.

Number 4, careless operation causing property damage may cost 3 times the repair cost is designed to help small townships go after riders choosing to destroy unpaved roads / parking lots.

Number 10, No towing people on trails / routes, this doesn't apply to towing machines that have people on / in them. Here is the actual code:

NR64.07(6) TOWING OF OBJECTS. While operating an all-terrain vehicle or utility terrain vehicle, no person may:

While operating on a trail or route open to the public, tow any trailer, toboggan, sled, skis, bicycle, skates or toy vehicle, bearing any person. This paragraph does not apply to the towing of a disabled all-terrain vehicle or utility terrain vehicle.

It's very important to respect the boundaries put in place so we can maintain great relationships with landowners, the counties and the DNR. Let's all do our part to keep our great trails open and accessible!

🚨 TRAIL & GATE REMINDER 🚨

Recently, we have experienced damage to gates and locks on our trail system.

These gates are typically located where public property ends and private property begins. They are in place for important reasons, whether for trail safety, temporary closures, maintenance, or protection of private property.

We want to remind everyone that we are extremely fortunate to have great landowners who allow us the privilege of riding on and through their property. Without their cooperation and support, many of these trails would not exist.

Please remember:
🔸 Respect all gates and closures
🔸 Do not damage locks or barriers
🔸 Closed gates are there for a reason
🔸 Help protect the future of our trail system

Maintaining these trails takes a tremendous amount of time, effort, and coordination from volunteers, clubs, landowners, and agencies. Damage to gates and property can create serious issues and could ultimately lead to trail closures or loss of access.

If you see suspicious activity, vandalism, or damaged gates, please report it as soon as possible.

Let’s all do our part to respect the trails, respect landowners, and keep our riding opportunities open for everyone.

Marinette County ATV / UTV trails open Friday, May 1, 2026. With the season starting, we wanted to remind operators of some ATV / UTV regulations.

• Every operator born after 01-01-1988 must take an ATV safety course to LEGALLY operate on a trail or route. Think of it like a driver’s license.
• You must be at least 16 years old to operate an ATV or UTV by yourself on any route or 12 to 15 years old for ATV ONLY if accompanied by an adult.
• Every single OPERATOR OR PASSENGER under 18 years old MUST wear a helmet that is DOT certified. A bicycle helmet does not qualify. If you can’t find a helmet small enough for your child, then they are probably too small to ride on public trails and routes.
• Every Person riding in a UTV must be seated in a seat designed by the factory as a seat and with a seatbelt on. You CAN’T ride in back storage box areas, sitting on someone’s lap, or on the roof or front or rear racks. Yes – we have seen all.
• Front headlights and rear taillights MUST be turned on day or night while riding in a public way (routes or trails).
• All ATV’s and UTV’s must display a current registration sticker on BOTH sides of unit forward of the operator and in a visible location. There are no trail passes for in-state residents, registration only. There are out-of-state operating passes/registrations that must be purchased for out-of-state units.
• A rear registration plate is required for both ATV’s and UTV’s: Plates shall be 4 inches high x 7 1/2 inches wide with visible numbers/letters that are at least 1 ½” in size. Location shall be at least 12” off the ground and clearly visible and legible in all conditions.

Marinette County highways are open 24/7, 365, except County T between 64/41. All numbered highways, such as US Highway 41, US Highway 141, State Highway 64, State Highway 180, and US Highway 8 are NOT open for any ATV / UTV traffic.

Have a safe and enjoyable riding season!

Just saw some young utv riders on 45 from the gas station in Elcho. Please note we are not allowed to ride on 45 at this time! Please let all drivers in your home know this. When 45 opens up for riding, we'll be the first to let you know!

Beware of false information! Check your local club or go directly to county websites for information on trail closings. Ride safe and have fun!

Woah boy! If you’re seeing this image floating around social media, it’s fake and misleading.

While some counties may choose to close trails due to fire danger, those decisions are made locally on a county-by-county basis. It’s important to check official local sources before sharing posts like this online.

If you’re planning a ride, always check with the appropriate local, county, state, or federal agency before heading out.

Some trails are still closed due to spring thaw conditions. Others are already open.

For example, Burnett County currently states on its official website:

“We are currently in our spring fire season. During this time, all trails are closed due to the risk of fire, and many trails are too wet to support ATV/UTV traffic, causing excessive damage. If conditions allow, our Summer ATV/UTV Trail System will open the Friday before Memorial Day (May 22).”

That information comes directly from the county’s official .gov website.

There may absolutely be additional closures around the state, but not every county shown in orange on this graphic is closed. The best way to verify trail status is by checking official county sources directly.

Now let’s talk fire safety for a minute.

Lt. Jake Holsclaw, Off-Highway Vehicle Administrator and Conservation Warden with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, states:

“In most cases, trails are opened and closed based on seasonal recommendations by each county. Some counties may elect to close a trail based on fire conditions. In the event of an actual wildfire, emergency services may close a section of trail as well. Remember all ATVs and UTVs have to have USFS-approved spark arresters before operating on a trail or route.”
