Just a little reminder that regardless of how perfect things may look on the outside, things behind the scenes aren’t always quite as pretty. 🫠
Now, granted, I don’t mess up very often… but APPARENTLY when I do, I like to go ALL OUT. 😫😂
And no, these aren’t two different cookie sets for two different customers. These are TWO sets for ONE precious, patient soul. Bless her heart. 😭
Let me explain…
Mom sent me an inspiration photo for her little girl’s birthday cookies. The photo had a number 6 and the same name as my birthday girl on it. Somewhere between my eyeballs and my brain, I decided we were celebrating a SIXTH birthday instead of a FIFTH. 🤦🏼♀️
Thankfully, I sent Mom a picture of the completed cookies before pickup, and she caught my mistake! No big deal, right? I quickly baked and decorated new 5s, sent another picture, and all was right in the world.
OR SO WE THOUGHT. 🫠
Mom picked up her cookies, they had a wonderful birthday party, and she never said a SINGLE word about anything being wrong.
Why? Because apparently this woman has the patience of Job and the grace of a saint. 😭❤️
It wasn’t until AFTER the party that I started putting two and two together and realized…
I HAD SPELLED THIS SWEET BABY’S NAME THE WAY IT WAS SPELLED IN THE INSPIRATION PHOTO INSTEAD OF HOW HER ACTUAL NAME IS SPELLED.
Y’ALL. 😭😭😭
Not only did I try to age this child an entire year, I apparently decided to rename her while I was at it!!!
When I tell you I was MORTIFIED… I mean contemplating unplugging the mixer, selling the cookie cutters, and retiring from the cookie business altogether. 😂😭
And this sweet mama? She never complained. Never made a fuss. Never even brought it to my attention. Just showed me more patience, kindness, and grace than I probably deserved.
I take so much pride in my work, and little details like these matter BIG TIME to me. So while I can laugh at myself now, I promise you I was absolutely SICK when I realized what I had done.
So here’s your reminder that behind every pretty cookie picture is a very real human who sometimes makes mistakes… and apparently, when I make them, I make them in BULK. 🤣
And to Brooke Garrett, thank you for being so incredibly understanding. You deserved better, and I am so sorry! ❤️ Tell EVERLEIGH I’m so sorry!! 😢
