AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT – The Circle Players will be holding auditions for “Everyone’s a Critic” on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 6:30pm. Auditions and call backs will be held at Richardson Hall, 551 Farragut Circle, El Cajon, CA. Please email [email protected] so we can expect your participation. Come prepared with a short, memorized monologue (not to exceed one minute). There will then be cold readings from the script. Expect to stay about two hours, depending on the number of those auditioning.
About the show: On the brink of a famous food critic’s first bite, the staff of the exclusive French restaurant Goût de Paris has a traitor in the kitchen who appears to be bent on sabotaging the evening. The audience, while enjoying a three-course meal, must guess who the culprit is.
Rehearsals will be most Mondays and Tuesday from February 10, 2025 thru April 1, 2025, with a final rehearsal Friday April 4, 2025. The performances are Saturday April 5th at 6:30pm and Sunday April 6th at 1:30.

The Executive Chef - Professional and articulate; weakness is placing too much faith in the “teamwork” of a sometimes less-than-dedicated “team”. This is a large role. Chef is in the middle of the dialogue throughout most of the play.
Busser (plays early 20’s) - Owner’s Relative; practical jokester; budding rockstar; trying to figure out their role in the family business.
Sous Chef (plays 30’s+) - Headstrong and opinionated; seeks recognition for their ability and accomplishments.
Pastry chef (plays 30’s+) - Seeks the spotlight and is willing to compete for it.
Chevalier (Male, plays 50’s+). Maître d’; after a 20- yr. investment, he seeks to preserve the restaurant’s French heritage at all costs. *Special requirements: Actor for this role must be able to affect a believable French accent throughout the play and pronounce a few phrases in French.
Fiona (Female, approx. 50’s+). - Owner; materialistic and opportunistic; resents her husband’s obsessive involvement with the restaurant.
Farmer – supplier of fresh goods exploited by the restaurant.
Head Chef – New hire for a lead position; wanting to make changes to restaurant.
There are other ensemble (cooks, bakers, etc.) and walk-on roles available.
The Circle Players is also looking for production assistants for stage management, assisting at rehearsals, props and sets, and lighting and sound techs.
