We are a seeking a passionate cake decorator to join our team! Pete’s Sweets is rapidly becoming a TikTok famous bakery specializing in creating not only custom cakes but themed menu items that attract customers from all around New England. In this role, you would be asked to fulfil the weekly cake orders with your culinary expertise mixed with an artistic flair. This position comes with the unique opportunity to be incredibly creative when it comes to collaborating on specials, while keeping up in a fast-paced, high volume environment that truly values the artistry of baking and pastry.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Filling, base coating, and final coating cakes, doweling & stacking tiered cakes
- Decorating cakes to match clients specifications/requests (often through buttercream, royal icing, fondant, & chocolate decor)
- Operating basic equipment like mixers, sheeters, ovens, knives, and other decorating tools safely (while keeping food safety and sanitization in mind)
- Create items like weekly in-store whole cakes as well as cake slices for FOH
- Input of creativity on themed event specials and executing said specials to be used on menu
- Providing excellent customer service on taking cake orders by answering related questions about our services (either in person, email, or phone call)
- Package finished items for sale in front.
- Assist in FOH on holidays and themed experiences if needed.
Experience:
- Proven cake decorating or pastry prep (Professional Experience desired but not limited to)
- Strong understanding on baking and decorating techniques like icing piping tips, cake assembly, proper food safety and sanitization, and basic baking knowledge
- High-volume production preferred for understanding that time management is necessary
- Demonstrates ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently
- Customer service in food industry preferred as well as artistic views to use in cake order process
