Stonewall, which gave us pride marches and parades, was lead by two bisexual trans women of color. Do not forget. And do not become complacent.. Stonewall was a riot and we still have more to do.
The Stonewall riots:
A series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations led by two trans-women of color Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn, located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City.
They are widely considered to constitute the single most important event leading to the LGBTQ liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBTQ rights in the United States.
