Our 2026 MHI Partner Convening has been filled with powerful conversations, thoughtful brainstorming, and big ideas about how we can continue to preserve these stories, amplify these voices, and connect the lessons of the movement to the work ahead.

We’re reminded that history isn’t just something we look back on. It’s something we carry forward. And when we make space for those who lived it to share their stories, we gain more than history we gain guidance, perspective, courage, and a roadmap for the future.

There is so much more to build, so much more to learn, and so many more voices to uplift!

Here’s to the conversations that spark action, to a movement whose history continues to inspire us, and to the people who carry its legacy forward with courage, purpose, and hope. ✊🏾

Today we celebrate FREEDOM. ✊🏾✨

On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they were free. But Juneteenth is more than a moment in history—it is a reminder that the struggle for freedom, justice, and equality continues today.

We honor the generations who marched, organized, sacrificed, and dared to dream of a better future. Their courage lights the path forward and calls each of us to continue the work.

May we celebrate their legacy by building a world where freedom truly belongs to everyone.

🎉We wanted to celebrate the wonderful Jennifer Lawson by bringing back one of our favorite videos!!

Jennifer first joined the as a teenager during the 1963 Children's March, where young people courageously challenged segregation despite arrests, fire hoses, and police intimidation. She later became a field secretary, organizing in Lowndes County, Alabama, helping build Black political power through grassroots organizing. An artist as well as an organizer, she created some of the iconic Black Panther imagery and educational materials used by the Lowndes County Freedom Organization!!
