I'm lying here awake tonight worrying, stressing, praying, and trying to figure out our next steps.
For almost 16 years, we've poured our hearts and souls into this business. We've weathered a lot of storms, and somehow we've always found a way through. But the last few years have been especially hard.
It feels like every time we finally get back on our feet, something comes along and knocks us right back down.
COVID. Medical emergencies.
Health issues. Rising costs.
Equipment repairs.
Unexpected expenses.
It's always something.
We had hoped this year to finally take a small vacation and make some much-needed repairs to the building. Unfortunately, neither happened. The reality is that taking a week off and closing the doors could have put us in a position where taking a whole week off meant we may be faced with not reopening. We need the income.
That's the reality we're facing.
Summer is traditionally our slowest season, and we're just getting started.
I'm not posting this for sympathy. I know so many people are struggling right now, and we certainly aren't alone. As a small business owner, asking for help doesn't come naturally to me. But I've learned that community is one of the greatest gifts we've been given over the last 16 years. So what I am asking is this:
Would anyone be interested in trading services?
I would never expect anything for free.
If you have skills in flooring, repairs, maintenance, construction, or other services we may need, I would gladly trade cakes, desserts, cookies, catering items, or whatever we can provide in return.
Maybe you have a wedding coming up.
A birthday party.
A family reunion.
A corporate event.
I'm willing to work hard and provide as much as I can to make a trade beneficial for both of us.
Maybe it's a crazy idea, but people have bartered services for generations, and I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.
We've worked too hard and invested too much of ourselves into this place to give up now.
We love our customers.
We love this community.
We love what we do.
And we want to be here for many years to come.
If you aren't in a position to help, we completely understand. Your prayers, support, shares, and encouragement mean more than you know.
Thank you for supporting us these past 16 years. We are grateful for every single one of you.
Please know we're still here, still baking, still creating, and still serving our customers every day. We're simply looking for creative ways to make some much needed improvements and keep moving forward 💜
