Patrice Saltzman is a self-taught baker who spent many formative years in the family kitchen decorating her mother’s sugar cookies. After transitioning from a career in musical theatre, she found herself spending more time back in the kitchen, and with newfound inspiration and passion for building sugary confections, she founded Patty Bakes in 2015. Inspired by the world and culture that surrounds

her, her cakes are individually created for each event, and she loves perfecting the tiny details she and her clients have envisioned. Using fresh butter, fine chocolates, seasonal fruit, and organic products whenever possible, each cake is baked from scratch and made with simple, pure ingredients.

Dear friends,

This is a bit of a delayed announcement (change is hard). At the end of 2023, I made the decision to close up Patty Bakes for both personal and professional reasons. The past 7+ years have been nothing short of extraordinary and also, well, super tough. Owning your own business, showing up day in and day out, is not for the weak or weary, and I applaud all business owners who continue to grind. (Especially my beloved cake friends.)

Thank you for your support throughout the years: From my first days in NYC to being the new kid on the block in the Outer Banks to showing up for me during the unknown days of COVID. I wasn’t a perfect business owner but I tried my best, learned a lot, fell on my butt a couple of times, and truly loved all of the memories and relationships I made with fellow small biz owners, cake makers and clients. You all are in my heart always.

I will continue to post here from time to time to remember all the good, and all the blood, sweat, and tears 😅🩷🎂

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I couldn’t have done any of this without you.

Oof this cake right here!!!! This past fall season was one for the books. I got to create some incredible cakes for some incredible people while working alongside incredible OBX wedding vendors. I may have shed a little blood, sweat and tears along the way (IYKYK 😅), but man it was a rewarding season.
