has a quality to it. It just feels calmer than the other days, a little slower, softer, and more intentional.
In our family, so much of that feeling is centered around food. And perhaps the most important Sunday tradition is my mom’s - - Polish chicken noodle soup, a beautiful clear broth with noodles that she has absolutely perfected. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to make it quite the way she does.
It is healing soup in every sense of the word.
We wake up to the smell of it simmering and spend the morning knowing that around noon, we’ll gather together for a bowl. There’s nowhere we need to rush off to. We rest, eat, talk, play with kids, go for a walk, read, and simply enjoy one another while time passes slowly around us.
Lately, those Sundays have meant even more to me.
I’m beyond grateful that I’ve had the chance to come home. And I’m equally grateful for the community here, and beyond, that has held me up, too. Your generosity helped raise the money I needed for an emergency room visit and other hospital expenses during the period when I lost my medical coverage. Your support also helped make it possible for me to travel home comfortably and be surrounded by family.
There are some things you don’t fully understand the value of until you need them: , , community, a place to come home to, and a bowl of your mom’s soup waiting for you on Sunday.
I don’t take any of it for granted. 🤍
