The traditional gift for the 7th anniversary is copper and/or wool. I received four copper canele' molds and the cutest set of felted wool macarons.
Canele' originated in the Bordeaux region of France. There's some debate on the date but somewhere between the 15th and 18th century. There's NO debate that these small pastries deserve every bit of praise they receive. Five simple ingredients come together in these fluted copper molds to make a crispy outer crust and a custard filled middle.
I would love to offer these for your special occasions, but with only four molds and an hour baking time, that's a little too slow-paced for production.
