The best answer is that one needs no excuse for a cool name. Just ask Frank Zappa (Father of Moon Unit, Dweezil, and Diva Muffin Zappa). But for those unsatisfied with that answer: Yetis are native to a freezing and hostile environment deep in the Himalayan mountains and nothing helps them beat the cold like a great cup of coffee. Our dearest friends...we owe you an update! First and foremost the final meeting with Draper City just happened last week and our issues were sorted out. On another more personal note...over the holiday break our family suffered a terrible tragedy that has stalled our communication with you all and I am sorry for the delay but I was not (and maybe am still not) ready to deal with reactions. However, we suffered the loss of our infant son Porter. It was very sudden and unexpected and needless to say has left a huge hole in our family. With this in mind, please understand that I am not able to handle relaunching our coffee shop at this time. I don't know when I will be ready but it's definitely something I know I am not capable of right now. At this time we have decided that we are not re-opening. Dancing Yeti is a huge part of us though and we hope that someday we will heal and be able to continue. It's something I miss terribly...I miss SO many of you very much so understand that this is not an easy decision, but we need some time to heal and take care of each other. Thank you all for your understanding and sensitivity to this very delicate matter.

The meeting with the city yesterday went well and in our favor. Next step is for the council to vote on it. We should find out soon the exact date!!

Our city counsel meeting is set for December 5th! Thank you everyone that submitted their letters of support. And it's not too late if you would still like to participate. They will be read at this hearing. Fingers crossed!! We will give another update after the hearing. I've received so many messages asking for updates and I am not able to respond to all of them, I apologize but we will keep you posted as information comes on here! Love to you all and have a great weekend! As for me and my family...we are heading to sunny California!!!

Ok...here is an update!! The snag we have run into with the city is that they suddenly changed some of the ordinances for historic Draper which affects our new location. One of those regulations was forbidding drive-thru's. In meetings with city counsel we have a plan to make an amendment to the city ordinances that will allow us use of the drive-thru since it's already on the building and it's not going to distract from the charm of historic Draper. I understand they don't want a bunch of fast food chains in that area but this is clearly different. The counsel members we spoke to did not feel it would be an issue to allow it for our building but they feel it would be best to get the community involved and show their support at the next counsel meeting in case there's anyone on the counsel that is not on board. What we would like to ask of you is if you would be willing to write a letter to Draper City indicating why you love Dancing Yeti, why you think Dancing Yeti Coffee Company would add to the historic charm of the town center and more importantly why the drive thru would not affect the city's charm. The counsel members felt like the more support we could get from our community, the more we could sway any counsel members that do not share our zeal :) (if we come across any) If you are interested in helping us out please send your letter to [email protected] and it will be printed and read at our next city counsel meeting. I really hope to knock their socks off with support from our community. Let's get this thing going!! We really miss you all! I am sorry for the silence thus far but it's been so crazy that I didn't want to post an update until I saw a light at the end of the tunnel.

Some exciting news for you!! Dancing Yeti is moving to a new location!! But have no fear our friends because this is going to be GREAT! You may be familiar with the location just a couple blocks away formerly occupied by Sacred Grounds at 12485 S 900 E. The ambiance is FABULOUS and is the only thing this place is missing. We will still have a drive-thru and will be expanding our food menu. We are so very excited about this new opportunity and hope you will make the transition with us. The unfortunate part is that our new place will not be ready in time when our lease ends here. We tried to make the dates align but it did not happen. So, our last day here will be this Friday October 18th at 7pm. We are hoping the new place will be ready in 2 weeks. Should there be any delays we will keep all of you posted on Facebook, and we are also starting an email list. If you would like to be kept up to date on the exciting changes make sure to follow us on Facebook and send me your e-mail address to be added to our e-mail list and we will be sure to keep you posted. We love and appreciate you all so much and can’t wait to see you at the new place…you’re going to LOVE it!!
