Years ago when I started Doherty’s Dough, I never could have imagined what this would turn into. I never dreamed so many of you would come to know and love on my cookie art. From weddings to baby showers to first birthdays. Watching your kiddos grow through their birthdays and seeing the new themes they wanted from their parties. Celebrating all your loved one’s milestones. You all have invited me into your lives and included me in so many of your special moments and for that, I am so honored.
I guess it’s time to rip the band aid off. Effective immediately I am no longer accepting custom orders. (If you have a paid invoice, rest assured your order will still be completed as scheduled!) This is a decision that I have really struggled with over the last several months. I’ve tried scaling back. I’ve tried changing my processes. But ultimately, I just need to formally take a step back right now.
Last year, I had some eye-opening health challenges. It has had a big impact on the way I view things. Right now, my focus needs to be on myself, my health and most importantly, my family. Above everything, I am a mama (and a homeschooling one at that!) Seeing my little dude grow and thrive has been the biggest source of joy and love in my entire life. He’s only going to be little once, and I don’t want to continue letting this time slip away from us. Cookies will always be there. And perhaps in the future I’ll reopen for custom orders. But this time with my baby is passing by so quickly and I just need to hold onto it a little longer.
You’ll still be able to find drop cookies and seasonal sugar cookies at Douglas Orchard and Farm. I’m planning to still offer holiday pre-orders and maybe some local pop ups? Definitely a few vendor events scattered in there! I don’t know exactly where the future is taking me, but this is not the end. Just a “see you later.”
I love you all. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
