For those of you who don’t already know, I am an idiot. I am an idiot because I trusted. I trusted a woman whose dream was to take the wonderful business that I created and raised, and grow it through the years. I abolished my beautiful gift shop to make the sale price more affordable for her. I sold down nearly 50% of my wine inventory through sales and specials to make the sale price more in line with her budget. I even closed the business last Saturday to move furnishings and items that wouldn’t remain with the sale so we could be ready for the transition. Yesterday I was texted by the closing attorney and notified that the sale was canceled. I thought I was doing the right thing, having West End live on for my wonderful customers to enjoy our little “Cheers” in Dothan. I knew there were people in the world that did things like this but in my 27 years in Dothan I had yet to meet one, until now. To say that I am devastated is an understatement. But through my hurt and pain I will maintain my idiocy and continue to believe in the goodness in people.
