We have a Quality Bakery apparel store available to those who missed the first store. A portion of sales will be donated to the Iowa County Sheriffs Department Santa Cop program.

What a week. Thank you all for your kind words, well wishes, and amazing support. A really difficult decision to make, but no doubt the best decision for us and our families!

A few things going into next week that we would like to share, hopefully to answer a lot of numerous messages in one spot.

Although we would love to make as many donuts that are requested, Gru forgot to send his minions, and we are not foreseeing any extra hands around here. Having a hard time keeping up with “normal” demand (enter burn out here) we physically can’t.
Therefore we will have some ground rules going into next week:
1. No more orders. We have always had a cap on orders per day and this cannot change if we want donuts for the public.
2. Spending 6 hours a day answering messages on our page can’t happen anymore either. We’d rather spend that time making more donuts. We will NO longer be responding to messages.
3. When stopping by for goods this week, there will now be a limit. We will allow a max of 4 dozen donuts, only 1 dozen bismarks per person. Also, only 1 dozen pasties per person as well. Sucks, I know, but as much as we love the support coming from a million directions we still want to be able to share the love with our customers that have been visiting us daily for years.

We’ve been in the business long enough to know that not everyone will be satisfied with these decisions, but we want to keep everyone in mind, including ourselves.

Another popular message is the future of the bakery. As stated in previous emails, this decision is like a death in the family. We truly appreciate those who have respected our decision and kept those questions to themselves. For those who would like to be made aware of those decisions, WHEN THE TIME COMES, please send your info to [email protected]

Alright, one more thing then I need to make dinner. Bakery apparel is available at 608 in town for purchase now. We hope to open one more store for you to have two options, but once the stores are done so is the opportunity, so get your shirts now!!

As of 5:36am we are sold out! We sold 900 Bismarks in 22 minutes with a line outside the door beginning at 4am.
We will have pasty and if you’re lucky some peanut rolls a little later this morning.
So grateful to this amazing community — today and everyday.

After 97 wonderful years of serving this amazing community, we have made the difficult decision to close the doors of Quality Bakery.

What started as a dream generations ago by our great grandpa Laverne, has become more than just a bakery — it became a second home where we grew up, and a part of your everyday lives. From birthday cakes and holiday pies to morning donuts and sweet treats after school, we’ve been honored to be part of your memories.

But as time moves forward, so do our priorities. As a family, we’ve come to realize how precious it is to simply be together — not just behind the counter or in the back, but around the dinner table, at family gatherings, and in life’s quieter moments. After years of early mornings, late nights, and weekends filled with flour and frosting, we’re choosing to step away to cherish more of those moments with each other.

We want to thank each and every one of you — our loyal customers, neighbors, and friends — for your support, your stories, your smiles, and your trust. Generations of our family have poured their hearts into every loaf, every cookie, and every moment spent behind the counter. We also want to thank our employees, present and past, for helping keep the bakery going all these years.

Our final day of business will be Saturday, October 4th. Between now and then, we hope you’ll stop by — not just to grab a final treat, but to share a memory, a hug, or just a goodbye.

We know many of you will have questions about what’s next — for the bakery, the recipes. At this time, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we take this step with care and reflection. For now, our focus is on closing this chapter with gratitude and grace.

A blast from the past!! We were excited to see this beauty parked out front this morning! 1913 or 1915…I can’t remember! Either way, it’s older than this bakery, and we can’t say that very often anymore!

Who’s ready for a break from this heat? The bakery staff is! We are sweating in places we didn’t know were possible… in any event, we will be closed this Saturday, 7/26, to support the owner’s daughter and employee Josie as she plays in her last basketball tournament in Chicago. Wow!!!! We’re proud to share that, thanks to the generosity of our amazing customers, staff and community, we’ve raised over $500 in one day to support one of our employee’s family who recently lost their home in a devastating fire.

Every donation, kind word, and gesture of support has meant the world. It is so amazing to be a part of this supportive community!
