Little Layer Chocolate Cake.
Known in Maryland as Smith Island Cake. It’s a very thin vanilla flavored cake layer with a thin layer of warm chocolate frosting spooned unto each layer. My cakes have 18 to 21 layers depending on the weather and how the gods are smiling down on me when I bake them.
Not only are these cakes intimidating because of their complexity and the temperamental nature of chocolate. They require great skill and patience to execute well.
Mine have no boxed cake mixes or fake anything. Each cakes includes:
1 can evaporated milk
1 4oz box of Germans Chocolate
3/4 pound butter
5 cups sugar
6 eggs
4 cups of flour
plus flavorings,rising agents and dairy
Price shaming is real but, most importantly my cake ingredients are ALL real.
