Roy and Ethel Newport established the store in May 1918. It continued in operation for 30 years until the lake flooded the site.

If you love old pictures, history, artifacts, exhibits, and more of the canyon than you should check out the Canyon Life Museum in Mill City. They have an extensive picture library that is absolutely amazing. If you are interested, the museum is open every Saturday this summer from 10:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-3:00pm.
