Hi, everyone, I thought I’d mention McConney’s Farm will officially be opening for another planting season April seventeenth. We’ll be using a first come first serve basis and are asking everyone to preplan their gardens to avoid the impulse to overbuy. A well-maintained small garden will produce much better than a neglected large one. Cramming plants too close together leads to smaller yields.

I know lots of the smaller greenhouses aren’t opening this year due to vendor shortages, but we grow our own and have plenty of vegetable plants as long as people act rationally and don’t hoard buy. So, please, preplan and keep in mind the size of your lots, and don’t forget you need to store or use what you grow. One tomato needs a minimum of 3 feet and some varieties need much more. If planted correctly, you can expect to get 30 - 50 tomatoes from one plant and cherry varieties produce 700-1000.

If you’re concerned with mixing with crowds (not that our place is ever very crowded. We generally don’t have more than three or four people in at once) you’re welcome to stop in before we officially open. I’m there planting weekday mornings and will let you in.
