2026 gardening season has begun. Just got our storage onions planted. Trying to do them from seed. Sets have never worked for me. If they all sprout I will have over 100 onions, that should get us through the year! In the second pic is a fun thing John got me. It is a hydroponic table garden. I am growing lettuce in it. We should be ready to harvest our first salad from it in a couple more weeks. 😋

If you believe in praying for an animal please be praying for our little girl calf. She was rejected by mamma and got pneumonia. She is really struggling right now and isn't responding to the meds the vet gave her. Our heart is breaking for this sweet little heifer.

Saturday we had a new addition born! Mamma rejected her so I am the stand in food giver. Today she took the bottle without John having to hold her. We are going to have a nice tame heifer and one day cow unlike her cranky mamma!

My hollyhocks are blooming! I also discovered that they are medicinal. Since they are in the same family as marsh mallow they also have the musilage that is great for soothing the gastrointestinal trac. I harvested some of the leave to dry and use for that purpose.

Cleaned out 4 more beds (with hubbys help), found some volunteer onions, and planted beets, rutabaga, and turnips. Pretty good for a couple hours work. I'm all done in now though, glad I have a pot roast in the crockpot.

Just finished cleaning out the Beet and rutabaga bed. Got a overflowing 5 gallon bucket of weeds out of it. I was so down last year that I couldn't keep up with it.

Our final ewe gave birth to a ram this morning! He is now a whether and no longer a ram. He is big and strong. Mamma didn't like us messing with him this evening. Pics are from this morning. Final lambing count is 4 ewes and 1 whether.

Our second set of twins made their appearance today. Looks like another set of ewes (girls). Have 1 more mamma we are waiting on to give birth. I separated the boys from the girls today, that was an infuriating job to do by yourself! But it's all good now.

Had twin lamb's born this morning. They are doing good inspite of the weather. Two more ewes for our flock. We have 2 more ewes due to lamb soon.

Hubby came home early today and decided we were going to set up a new compost area. I have 1 bin that is ready to use and the second is what we are composting this year. I am hoping to get a third bin so I can have 1 bin done, one a year old and one 2 years old. I got to drive the skid steer for the first time to get the chicken coop clean out up to the compost area. I also stirred it up a bit to make sure the nitrogen was mixed well with the carbon.
