Every Saturday *year round*, Chestertown MD Farmers Market is open 8am-12pm! David is there with loaves of sourdough, focaccia, bags of bagels, and lots and lots of pastries 🍪
Every Saturday *April-November*, St. Michaels Farmers Market is open 8:30am-11:30am! One of us is there with loaves of sourdough, focaccia, bags of bagels, lots of pastries, bags of nightkitchencoffee beans, hot & cold coffee, iced chai, iced teas, lemonade, and iced lattes 🧋

I have to be honest, I’ve avoided making this post for two weeks now because I just haven’t been able to find the words. But I know I can’t put it off any longer, some things are inevitable and time is one of those things. So here it is:
•Friday 8/7 & Saturday 8/8 will be our final weekend open. We will be closing our Denton retail location for good•
If you’ve stopped by since we shifted to Friday & Saturday only, you’ve probably heard it from us. But for those who are just curious as to our “why”, we have a handful of reasons. We’re short staffed and not really in a position to hire more people. We’re collectively burnt out from working 12-21 hours a day. Overall, our workload is a LOT and while that means yes, we’re making sales, it also means we’re spending a lot on overhead to make things happen. There are many, many more reasons (most of which are sleep, kids, and a lack of HVAC) but I’m trying to keep this as brief as I can 😜
This isn’t a decision we’re making lightly. I’d say I’ve spent a solid 6-8 weeks deeply depressed. This hurts. But in the midst of all the chaos, John and I have realized that we need to give ourselves the space to make changes; to be ok with change. So this isn’t a flop or a fail in our book, it’s a chance to take a step back and evaluate the best way forward. If you’re still with me, here are some key takeaways and an idea of our future plans:
1. Closing Denton does NOT mean we’re done baking! We’re simply reconfiguring our system.
2. Night Kitchen Coffee in Cambridge will not be impacted at all by this! Business as usual down there, and you might even see my face behind the bar now & then 🥰
3. Our wholesale accounts & farmers markets will continue on as we’ve always done. So you can still find our goodies & smiles at the Saturday St Michaels & Chestertown farmers markets!
4. YES, the usual holiday orders will still be available! BONUS, I’m working on setting up weekly online orders for all your favorites!! More details to come there, I need a little time to get it all set up 🫶

Uhhhm this post is the first of, I’m sure, several hard ones I’m going to make. Right now, it’s miserable for us & our staff, harder probably on our equipment, to be in the building. When it’s 90+ outside, it’s easily 10-15 degrees warmer in the building. Because it’s mid-July and we still have no AC and no idea if we will before summer’s end. So these are our hours for the foreseeable future.
Yes, yes, kitchens are hot and I’ve been in this industry for something like 16 years so I am good at dealing with the heat. But that doesn’t mean it feels good or like it doesn’t drain the life out of me by the end of the week. So we’re cutting down our hours to create a sort of compromise. One that allows us to see you guys during our busiest times and helps keep our scheduled sweat hours to a minimum.
That said, this means we’re losing business and losing out on the opportunity to make money. And it’s getting.. scary for us. We’re cutting it closer than we ever have, trying to not compromise the quality of what we’re putting into our food while watching food costs, utilities, and wares prices just skyrocket. And knowing that every single person in our community is being negatively impacted by the rising cost of living makes it that much harder to ask for your support. But man, we really need it. We’re doing everything we can think of to keep our feet planted here where we live but we aren’t sure how much longer we can tread water. So if you’re out & about over the weekend, please stop by for breakfast or lunch or coffee & treats. We would really appreciate any and all support you can offer. Love you mean it 🫶

We’re doing our best to keep it moving over here, please bear with us as we navigate all the hurdles 🥵
We will also be bulking up focaccia & offering brioche buns for Friday & the Saturday markets. If you’re looking for a loaf or buns or really any pastries, give us a call 410-934-7519 ASAP to reserve them! We will NOT be open Saturday 7/4 but we WILL be at both Chestertown & St Michaels markets.

🥭 mango matcha- creamy matcha with a hint of tropical flavors
🥥 salty beach- toasted coconut, espresso, salted vanilla cold foam.. everybody’s fave from last summer
🥭 mango in other things- mango lemonade, matcha mango lemonade, mango arnie palmer, the list goes on
🥥 coconut macaroon- toasted coconut, mocha, espresso, need we say more???

Hey y’all, it’s time for a little R&R for the Craft team! If you’ve been in the shop lately, you’re well aware of how 💨steamy💨 it is in here and we all need some outside time. So we’re taking the week to rest, enjoy the sunshine, and cooool off 🌊
Still need a coffee & treat fix? No worries, Night Kitchen Coffee in Cambridge is open normal hours all week! You can also catch us at both the St. Michaels Farmers Market & the Chestertown Farmers Market on Saturday 6/13. Still not enough? Ok, pop by our friends Del Valle Coffee all week long for coffee, sammies, and treats!
Ps- we are locking it up at noon today (it’s HOT) but we have slices of strawberry pretzel salad cheesecake in the case for an end of week treat! 🍓🥨

This evening all are welcome from 5:30-7:30pm to meet Eastern Shore local Katie Clendaniel & grab a little treat. Katie is running for MD State Senate to represent District 37- the district in which we reside. Friends if you are free for even 20 minutes to stop by and get to know Katie, take this time to pop in and hear what she has to say!

HAPPY SATURDAY! Treats abound for you this morning and honestly, you need one. It was a long week but the sun is out and you should be too 🌞
Let’s talk for 3 seconds about my current favorite thing- the Craft on a croissant. Currently with blueberry jam, it’s a bacon egg & gruyere with balsamic dressed greens. Not a jam and egg kinda dude? Ok, well the egg white avocado sammie is also fantastic on a croissant. Whatever you’re into, we can make it happen ✨

•lemon meringue lattes (WHY haven’t you had this yet)
