Little behind-the-scenes truth from your baker 😂

Sometimes people think running a baking business is all cute aprons, aesthetic photos, and beautifully frosted desserts…

Meanwhile, I’m over here:

🫐 yelling “WHY ARE YOU STICKING?!” at scone dough.

🧈 calculating butter prices like I’m running a small financial institution.

🎂 staring at a cake for 20 business minutes wondering if it’s “artisan” or if I’m just tired 😂

👀 and fully questioning my life choices every time I say yes to detailed decorating work.

But then someone takes a bite and goes:

“Okay… this is REALLY good.”

…and suddenly I’m like:

“Fine. I guess we keep doing this” 🫶😂

Little behind-the-scenes truth from your dye-free baker 🌿🎂

When you skip artificial dyes, exact color matching becomes a little more… interpretive 😂

Requested: seafoam green.
Mother Nature delivered: “coastal sage with emotional depth” 👀

That’s one of the beautiful (and occasionally humbling 😂) realities of dye-free baking. Colors don’t always match a paint swatch perfectly. Nature likes to keep things interesting and every shade has a little personality of its own 🫶

Was the piping exactly how I envisioned it? No.

Did I stare at it for 20 business minutes questioning my life choices? 👀

Maybe this is controversial… but I’m Team Edible Decor 😂

In my little baking heart, I love when everything on a cake can actually be enjoyed. Buttercream textures, cake toppers, chocolate details, freeze-dried fruit, edible florals… if someone says, “Wait, THAT’S edible?!” I’m delighted.

WOW. 🥹💜

My heart is so full after this weekend at the Lilac Festival.

We came with a smaller menu and lower quantities than originally planned, and somehow… we SOLD OUT. Not only that, but we had people intentionally seeking out Kat’s Kitchen and stopping by our booth just to support us. That means more than I could ever put into words.

To every person who stopped by, shared a kind word, bought a treat, recommended us to a friend, shared our posts, or simply cheered us on, THANK YOU. Truly.

As a small local business, every purchase matters, but even more than that, your support, encouragement, and belief in what we’re building means the world to us.

This little dream of high-quality, thoughtfully made baked goods continues to grow because of this incredible community. We feel so loved, encouraged, and deeply grateful.
