For all those who love baking, but want the tasks to be made as easy as possible, you have Anna M. Mangin to thank for her ability to foresee your needs. The young African American woman invented the pastry fork in 1891.
The utensil was used to mix dough for pie crusts, cookies, butter and flour pastries without needing to physically manipulate the ingredients with one’s hands. However, the fork was also used to beat eggs, mash potatoes, and prepare salad dressings. Anna M. Mangin was awarded a patent on March 1, 1892, for the pastry fork for mixing pastry dough.

“Caitlyn Cares” is an initiative started by 9yr old Caitlyn Weems.
Caitlyn was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome, a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and vocalizations commonly referred to as tics. Although there are medications to suppress tics, there is no known cure.
Caitlyn shared her vision to bring joy to the lives of other children living with health challenges, through an organization that sums up her personality, “Caitlyn Cares”.
Scratch Batch Cakes has partnered with “Caitlyn Cares” for our 1st Annual Holiday Doll Drive.

All donations will be delivered to residents of Hugh Spaulding Children’s Hospital on Dec. 15.
