Due to an event and large catering orders at the restaurant Mac's is located inside of (Donnie's).

Thurman McDavid, owner, at the Van Zetti Bakery at 518 East Prairie, in 1971. McDavid, formerly Sales Manager at the Purity Bakery, purchased the business in 1946. He retired in 1976 after 30 years of ownership.

McDavid purchased the bakery from Michael Van Zetti, a native of Turin, Italy, who came to Decatur as a baker in 1893.

The National Bakery was purchased by Van Zetti in 1920. It had been founded by George Calfas in 1917. The original fixtures of the business were made by Decatur's Walrus Manufacturing Co.

Visit our shop that day to make a donation to a member of their advisory board ringing bells, and also a portion of our donut sales from that day will be donated to The Salvation Army of Decatur!!
