We have news that, much like dark chocolate Zookys, is bittersweet. Due to new professional opportunities (and consequent scheduling conflicts), Asher Breads will be scaling back dramatically on expansion for the foreseeable future; this includes withdrawing from our previously announced return to the Warrensburg Hometown market (at least as a vendor!), as well as intended expansion into the Monticello market on alternating Thursdays.

We'll tentatively still be attending the Tuesday market in Champaign, having committed/paid through the season, however this may be subject to change due to circumstances on a weekly basis. Stay tuned for updates, and a big thank you to everyone whose enjoyed our products and helped keep bread on my table (😄) so far!

As always made with fresh local ingredients and high quality flour, honey, agave, and plenty of cocoa!

Great news! In time for this coming Tuesday's Champaign-Urbana Farmers Markets, we've got not one but TWO new announcement regarding suppliers:

First and foremost, our flour going forward will be 100% organic stone-ground whole white and whole red wheat from Janie's Mill out of Ashkum, IL. We've been hoping to find a better source than the grocery aisle, even considering milling berries if needed; this is a perfect solution for fresh milled, nutritious, and flavorful flour that I think you'll notice!

Secondly, we're incorporating a second source for eggs! Big thanks to Joyful Wren Farm for the referral to Janie's Mill's website and the delicious local free-range (humane certified, even!) eggs, which you can pick up right across the aisle at the Tuesday Champaign market! Don't worry, Sterling Family Farms eggs won't be going anywhere; we're proud to support both local Decatur and Champaign area small businesses where we can.

After multiple recommendations, excited to announce we've likely solved the question of locally sourcing fresh flour - https://www.janiesmill.com/pages/our-story is based right here in Illinois and both GROWS and STONE GRINDS their own organic grains with a focus on whole-kernel nutrition!

Looking forward to experimenting with their red and white wheats in our products when the shipment arrives, and I even picked up a little buckwheat to test on our occasional gluten-free offerings as well! Stay tuned for updates, hopefully will have an announcement to share on the arrival/results before our next market.

The idea for Janie’s Mill sprung up one day as Harold was watching tons of his organic wheat flow into a semi to travel far from Janie’s Farm. Read our story!

Big thanks to Allison Centennial Farm and Prosperity Gardens for the chance to try some new items at the market last week! We got some great locally grown fresh greens (Only $6/lb - better than the spring mix at Walmart by far!) AND family raised ground beef that knocks the grocery store out of the park. Both made their way into some awesome flatbread burgers (well done, of course)!

We're all set for the Champaign-Urbana Farmers Markets tonight from 3-6 in Champaign, on Neil and Washington! Today we're offering VARIETY PACKS with 2 banana nut chocolate chip muffins, 2 Zooky brownies, and 1 banana nut (dairy free) muffin for only $20!

We've also got a limited number of packages of classic Zooky brownies and banana nut muffins, just for those dairy or nut-free visitors!
