Gluttony Candles

Gluttony Candles Gluttony chef made soy candles are hand poured in Dallas and feature unique culinary (mostly) scents that inspire the maker, chef Bryce Murphree.

✨ Why Gluttony Candles? ✨

Isn’t it wild how one scent can instantly take you back? 🍊✨ The smell of fresh oranges, spicy chili, or earthy rosemary can whisk you away to a memory as vivid today as it was years ago. That’s the magic of fragrance, and it’s why Bryce and Maggie set out to create candles that do more than just smell good—they tell a story. After years of burning candles that fell flat,

they said “no more!” Using Bryce’s culinary background, they cooked up something different: chef-made, eco-friendly soy candles that burn bright and smell incredible from start to finish. 🔥

Hand-poured into 14oz soup cans (a nod to their foodie roots), Gluttony Candles are all about high-quality, long-lasting scents. With a 70-75 hour burn life, each candle fills the room with mouthwatering, food-inspired fragrances—just like your favorite dish. 🍃🍲

So light one up, close your eyes, and let the scent take you back. Whether it’s a summer cookout, your favorite cocktail, or fresh herbs from grandma’s garden—each burn is a memory waiting to happen. 🌿🕯️

🐎 2026: The Year of the Horse 🐎

In Celtic and Druidic stories, the horse was never just a horse.
(We weren’t great at understatement.)

They were sacred, strong, free, and a bit otherworldly.
Messengers between worlds. Guides for the soul. Symbols of protection, prosperity, and knowing when it was your turn to lead.
Basically, if you saw a horse in a story, something important was about to happen!

The Celts believed horses carried us through endings and beginnings -death and rebirth, loss and renewal. They showed up when it was time to move forward…whether you felt ready or not!

Which feels about right for 2026.

Then there’s Texas.

Here, the horse isn’t myth - it’s muscle, work, independence, and grit.
It’s early mornings, long days, and getting on with it because no one’s handing you a medal for trying.

Different accent. Same backbone.

Across oceans and centuries, the meaning stays the same: Strength. Purpose. Forward motion.

At Gluttony Candles, this is the year we’re stepping into. Not rushing, not standing still, and definitely not lighting the way with anything flimsy.

We make chef-made, clean-burning soy candles meant to ground you, warm you, and remind you where you’re headed.

Light isn’t just comfort. It’s guidance.
It tells you you’re still moving. Still here. Still going.

So here’s to a year of steady strength, quiet confidence, and doing the work - with a bit of warmth, a bit of stubbornness, and maybe a muttered
“right then… let’s get on with it.” 🐎🔥

Today we pause, breathe, and remember. One soft flame at a time.

We pause to honor all who have served and continue to serve. Those who’ve given their time, their courage, and, for too many, their lives for the freedoms we hold dear.

Here at Gluttony Candles, this day holds special meaning. We remember Lt. Col. John D. Murphree, who served honorably in the U.S. Army and in Vietnam. He was not only a soldier but a mentor, a father, and the steady hand behind so much of what shaped our own “crazy chef,” Bryce Murphree. His steady presence and the lessons he passed on still guide us, in how we work, create, and move through the world.

In Ireland, we light a candle to remember. To share the flicker of love that never fades, to honor those whose presence continues to warm our hearts long after they’re gone.

So today, we light one for Lt. Col. Murphree, and for every brave soul who has served this country. Remembered. Never forgotten. Loved continuously.
🕯️ Freedom is a precious thing. May we never take it for granted.🕯️

Markets are more than places to shop. They’re where stories, neighbors, and creativity come together.

Every vendor has a dream behind their table - a mother saving for her child’s college, a chef chasing a new idea, an artist sharing their craft.
These are the people who make our communities thrive...one scent, flavor, and smile at a time.

🌕 The Irish Banshee Welcomes Spooky Season 🕯️🍂

It’s that glorious time of year when the air (theoretically) cools, pumpkins glow on every doorstep, and whispers of mischief drift through the night.

Before we lose ourselves in candy and costumes, let’s travel back to where it all began - the emerald hills of Ireland, where Halloween was born. 🇮🇪

Over 2,000 years ago, the Celts marked the turning of the seasons with Samhain (Sow-in), when the veil between this world and the next grew thin. Spirits walked among us - some gentle, some not and fires blazed high to welcome ancestors home while warding off the trickier sort. You might say the Irish have always been on good terms with the otherworld; we’re a people of spirits, fairies, and stories whispered by candlelight.

So this Halloween, as you light your Gluttony Candle, think of it as your own little Samhain flame - a chef-made, soy-wax nod to the warmth of the hearth and the mystery of the night. 🔥

Whether you choose Roasted Pumpkin, Bourbon & Butterscotch, or Orange Chili Pepper, let the scent carry you somewhere just beyond the ordinary.

Curious where the Banshee fits into all this? Follow the wail to The Banshee’s Table for the full tale… if you dare. https://www.gluttonycandles.com/post/roasted-pumpkin-salad-samhain-halloween-recipe 💀✨

✨ “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” – Edith Wharton ✨

Lately, life has felt a little heavier, as it does from time to time. Between work, family, and the whirlwind that is the world around us, it’s easy to lose sight of the light we carry or the light others share with us.

This quote has been sitting with me. A gentle reminder that spreading light doesn’t always mean we have to shine the brightest. Sometimes, we’re the candle, the source of warmth, inspiration, and new ideas. Other times, we’re the mirror, reflecting someone else’s brilliance, helping their light reach a little further into the dark.

Both are beautiful. Both are necessary.

So, when life feels overwhelming, maybe the best thing we can do is choose to be light, in whatever form that takes. Be the candle when you can. Be the mirror when you can’t. And celebrate every soul that crosses your path; they’re there for a reason - to teach, to remind, to reflect something you may have forgotten about yourself.

🕯️ Here’s to spreading light, in all the ways it finds us.
