When in Louisville for a bourbon trip, you do one thing — Go! Do all you can, and walk a ton to keep your metabolism going, ha. That’s what we recently did on our recent trip.
Breakfast at Mammy’s is the key to a successful day. We visited Bardstown for a wheated pick and a Green River wheated pick in Pete’s Place. Thanks to .metcalfe for hanging with us!
We then visited and picked a great COTW barrel, followed by a Rare Perfection 10YR collaboration pick with the great and his crew. ….a RP 10YR. 💪🏼 Thank you Shelby and Rachel for your hospitality. , we’ll have to run it back soon! And we owe you guys after yall shared an epic Boiler Hill hazmat rye. 👏
Can’t visit Louisville without visiting and . At T&E you can try the first of its name Sakura unicorn made by PS — it is raspberry poptart and strawberry cake mix all day. Delicious! Venture to the speakeasy in the basement of Hotel Distil for a nightcap cocktail. End Day 1.
The next day, an epic pick of .de.luxe at Starlight with Turner Wathen (great to see you !) followed by a tasting with Ted Huber himself. 🫡 First, the BDL picks that will eventually drop on Seelbach’s are an instant buy; we tried them 😂. Second, Starlight’s Batch 4 Mizunara, the 10-11-12 year blend and the Sakura finished barrels are all bangers. Be on the lookout for those!
A visit to Peerless for a pick, a visit to Michter’s for cocktails and a tasting, dinner at and hanging with at — made for a super strong evening. End Day 2.
Before heading to the airport, a quick stop at — Batch 19 of OC is a banger — and running into at the airport made for a nice send off.
And we can’t forget visits to , , and dinner at . What. A. Trip. Stay tuned for updates on these picks, two of which will be online releases. 👊🏼
What spots did we miss? We’ll add them to the next trip. Cheers! 🥃
