April 19, 2023- In February of 2023, the City of Dalhart established an Office of Community Development with a focus on downtown revitalization, economic development, and business and community support. The Office of Community Development will host its’ first event this May as the City of Dalhart is sponsoring a downtown block party in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. The event will take place at the Dallam County Courthouse lawn on the evening of Friday, May 5th, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The event will include live music by DJ Loco, tacos by Taqueria Chihuahua, snacks by Galiz Paleteria Y Neveria, and a homemade salsa contest. To enter your salsa recipe in the contest, email the Office of Community Development at [email protected]. The winner of the homemade salsa contest will win 150 Dalhart Dollars which can be spent at 43 participating businesses throughout the community.

“The City of Dalhart is excited to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with this event, to bring people to our beautiful downtown, and to give local businesses and musicians an opportunity to get out in front of the community,” said Mayor Justin Moore. The event is free and open to the public.
