What a May in the cottage bakery! Four out of the five weekends spent providing fresh bread to the community!
From the downtown Cushing festival to the market at Hilltop Greenhouse and the normal pickups, it was definitely a bread month.
I’m thankful to have met new customers, visited with familiar ones and witness peoples’ excitement about real bread! 🤎
June looks slower with sourdough activity, and I’m definitely good with that rhythm. 🤎

Just a bread baker obsessed with the slowness of sourdough. The process literally makes me slow down my brain and tune out the worries of the world. If I don’t, I’ll mess it up (can definitely confirm this multiple times).

My capacity is 20 loaves each bake, plus sourdough based desserts. It may not sound like many compared to other cottage bakers, but that’s where I am in this season.

Slow counter bulk fermentation followed by an overnight rest in the fridge.
One standard oven with two Dutch Ovens for about 8.5 hours each bake day.

One day, maybe I’ll have one of those fancy bread ovens and such, but I’m relishing in the now because that’s what I’ve been given.

I love pickup days, even if I’m exhausted by the customers’ arrival, because chatting with them is part of the process. I’ve met so many unique and caring people on this sourdough journey!

Oh, hey Double Chocolate Sourdough 👋
My memories tab popped these in my view today.
This loaf is a decadent one. Made with coffee + cocoa powder + milk chocolate chips & brown sugar.
With all the other sweets I do now, this just hasn’t been on my radar, but it sure is a good one to remember!

A big thank you for your love of sourdough! It’s what gets me up early. No really, it does and this video is proof of my tiredness 🙃 I enjoy this market in particular as I have my regular customers that come, and then I get to meet new customers each time! Plus, the hosts are fun and my sourdough vendor neighbor, Penni, (yes, we bakers can be friends) makes me laugh when we are both dead tired….
