McHenry County College now hosts a functioning bakery next to the Culinary Lab. Run by the MCC Baking students, the class is part of the new Baking and Pastry Management degree. We pride ourselves on baking all natural, affordable treats in a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly kitchen. Come visit us and support McHenry County's own Pastry Arts students. Park in lot B and follow signs to security and/or commons area

Wednesday, 12/3 is the last day for the bakery this semester. We'll have warm blueberry bread pudding, potato Kugel, puff wrapped sausages, Bison Ghoulash and a mix of various pastries from pastry classes. We also have a few frozen pumpkin pies to purchase for the rest of your holiday plans. Thank you all for braving the construction and supporting our program. Remember, Tartan Bistro reservation requests begin February 1st. Please check that page for more details in January.

Happy Halloween week! We sold out of Halloween cookies today, but we will have the favorite Peanut Butter cookies as a special tomorrow. Yes, they are still Gluten-free and Vegan. For those wondering what Chicken Pozole is: it’s like a chicken and mini dumpling soup with a mild mexican flavor. So, so good on cold days.
For those asking about Chef Tina- I’m doing well, walking pretty well and making progress everyday. Thanks for the well wishes! ☺️

It’s cold and dreary but we’ve got yummy things to make your day better! Yes it’s Momo Dumpling soup and Egg Roll week! We also have some yummy Pecan sticky buns from PAS 101.

Ziggy zaggy, ziggy zaggy, OY, OY, OY! We’re celebrating Oktoberfest this week! Specials include Bison Hungarian Goulash (CLM 103), German Potato Salad & Tangy Garlic Pickles from Chef Joyce’s CLM 101 class, plus Cinnamon Chip Scones from Chef Sarah’s PAS 101 class. Lots of great stuff- limited supply of German Potato Salad, so get it while you can!

It’s finally happening! We were a bit delayed, but Sweet Scots Bakery is opening next Wednesday, 9/17 and it’s 1/2 way to St.Patrick’s day. Specials are Irish banger sausage rolls, kale, white bean & sausage soup and Baileys cupcakes. We’ll be open most Wednesdays & Thursdays in the Scot room from 9:30-1:30pm

PAS 101 finals are always our favorite way to highlight the end of the Fall semester. Many of these students will be moving on to Tartan Bistro in the Spring, then Sweet Scots next fall. They did a great job, it was an especially good year for pies! Chef Sarah does the hard work of getting the newbies into shape each year, and it’s fun for the bakery students to watch them and remember what that 1st semester was like. Have a great Holiday season everyone!

Can’t believe it’s the last day! We still have plenty of yummy stuff today. Bison chili, Puff-Wrapped Brats, and a delicious warm Berry Bread Pudding with Raspberry Glaze. We also have Lemon Poundcakes for $5 and more frozen soup quarts for $5.

Things students do when we get a brief lull in service and it’s the first snow day. 😁 Also- public service announcement for our Gluten-free friends. Our green bean casserole was GF today thanks to circle organics GF onion crunchies. The GF breadcrumbs are also good. I really like this brand, and use it often at home.
