Farm life update. 🚜

As you can see from the pictures, Pat is recovering well from open heart surgery! He is probably doing too much, but it’s hard not to this time of the year.💪

He says he’s not in much pain just mostly tired from the medication.

We are very thankful Christian has been here to help!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Our son-in-law Doug Yunker even came down to help get things ready for harvest with his dad.

Of course nothing is easy in farming. The Draper head belt broke shortly after starting beans. 🫛

So, it has been a slow start for us, but hopefully things will get moving smoothly soon.

I have the easy job at harvest. I haul the grain in and run and get parts or post pictures when I’m waiting for a full truck. 😉

🧑🏻‍🍳Sourdough focaccia is essentially over fermented sour dough. And unlike yeast dough it requires at least a day to ferment and a day to make the leaven. At least for me it does because I only keep 30 grams of starter. Since I don’t want to have a large amount of discard.

I do use the discard in my chocolate chip cookies and rolls. So don’t worry it doesn’t go to waste. 🍪

Thank you to everyone that stopped by my stand last night despite the heat and rain! 🌧️

I was especially happy to be visited by these two cuties. 🥰

🍁I have a dozen of the fall themed cut out cookies and a half dozen vanilla cupcakes leftover. Luckily, they freeze really well. 🎃

🌸Also, I have a couple of flower shaped loaves in the freezer. If you are interested comment or message me.

The market season is over just in time for me to get ready for harvest. 🌽

This is my first year with the bakery, so I’m still figuring everything out.

I will have a couple of weeks when I’m only home to sleep. 😅

☔️When it rains or something breaks I usually get a few days to catch up.

💃Kari (best friend/manager/partner in crime lol) has become very good at doing rain dances.

I think she keeps tools in her jeep so she can sneak over and remove a spark plug or something, just so I can drive a bus. 🛠️

🦃So, I will be limited on what I can do for October and November, but you can always ask and I might be able to squeeze it in.

Then my plan is to try to do a weekly hot plate pre Order or maybe a bread subscription this winter. 🍞
