⚡️🌧️ Storms kept the little ones up way past bedtime last night. They were a little nervous with all the thunder, so instead of fighting it, we made the best of it.

A late-night kitchen adventure turned into a chocolate chip sourdough loaf with my favorite tiny helpers. ❤️

Sometimes the schedule gets thrown out the window, the flour ends up everywhere, and bedtime happens a little later than planned. But these are the moments I know I’ll miss someday.

🌾 He’s baaaack.

After a week off, Optimus Rise is finally stretching his legs and getting back to work. Apparently he enjoyed his vacation a little too much and needed some convincing to return to the bakery. 😅

This bubbly guy is the heart of every loaf that comes out of the Home Loaf kitchen, and seeing him rise again means we’re getting back into the swing of things.

Thanks for all the patience, prayers, and well wishes while we took some time to recover. Now it’s time to feed the starter, dust off the flour, and get back to baking.

✨ A Little About Me ✨

Hi! I’m Kyla, the face behind Home Loaf Sourdough.

I’m a wife to an offshore oil rig measuring technician and a mama to three amazing kids who keep life busy, loud, and full of adventure. ❤️

My sourdough journey began during a difficult season after the birth of my second child. While navigating postpartum depression, I found sourdough. What started as a simple hobby and distraction quickly became something much bigger. It gave me purpose, creativity, and a passion I never expected.

Home Loaf Sourdough was born in Portsmouth, Virginia while our family was stationed there with the Navy. I started small, baking just a few loaves at a time and bringing them to local markets. When our family moved to Florida, I wasn’t sure what to expect.

What happened next has been nothing short of incredible.

This little dream has taken off in ways I never imagined. What started with a handful of loaves has grown into hundreds of loaves, baked goods, and smiling customers every week.

Every single loaf, cookie, cinnamon roll, English muffin, and pizza crust is still made right here in my home kitchen. It’s often chaotic, usually covered in flour, filled with the sounds of kids playing, and fueled by plenty of coffee—but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thank you for supporting a small family business, for sharing your tables with my bread, and for helping turn a difficult chapter of my life into something beautiful.

Unfortunately, Home Loaf has been hit with the flu this week. 🤒

After a lot of back and forth, I’ve decided it’s best for both my family and our customers that we stay home and focus on resting and recovering.

Because of this, we will not be attending Grand Boulevard or Rosemary Beach Farmers Markets this weekend, and the bread stand will remain closed as well.

I hate missing a week, especially when so many of you make Home Loaf part of your routine, but keeping everyone healthy has to come first.

Thank you all for your understanding, patience, and support. We are hoping for a quick recovery and look forward to being back in the kitchen and serving you soon.

Please keep our family in your prayers, and we’ll keep everyone updated on when we’ll be back.
