The little kiosk that could will be home to another locally owned and operated business *drum roll* Grilled Chic 🥳🥳🥳
The deal with Mission Possible fell through because the landlords were trying to illegally evict the other tenant on the property and he stood his ground. How two realtors in town missed the black and white is a whole other story.
Its a beautiful thing to watch things come full circle and to watch a local business get a leg up.
Go get some delicious bento bowls of freshly cooked food made with love and care. Scope his page for updates on grand opening.

As we pack and get ready to head out.. here’s a little update:
This is the pic of our new shop. We have upgraded from a 300 sq foot kiosk that never really fit our bakery vibe (but we love you the little kiosk that could!) into a 2400 sq foot indoor space. Can you believe it? You can actually walk inside to view a bakery case instead of watch Logan pull tray after tray to the window 😂
Thank you to everyone who helped and supported us. The countless hours we worked with our kids in the car, on the floor, in the window. The long days and hours earned us this blessing.
Just remember that no matter how hard things may seem, you can always help yourself and others up to a new dawn. Happy is what you make and you all helped us. We will never forget the kindness shown to us. The people who offered their services, time, helping hands and encouraging words.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and you can best believe we will be sending updates as we decorate and open the new Sally’s.
Our hearts are full and heavy as we say goodbye to this chapter but start a new one ❤️🥹
Bless all of you, your families and your lives.

We will miss you all and don’t worry, there will be updates to keep you in the loop.
And this page will slowly transition to DIY recipes for you all to get your hands floured up and make some of your Sally’s favorites at home 😊
Thank you all SO much for the support these last few days! We have been selling out by 9am and 10am.
We will be toiling away in the wee hours to have more to offer for tomorrow and Saturday so we can get you mid morning peeps.
But I will say it was sort of nice to be able to just chat for awhile with those who did come after we were out of goodies without the normal time constraints of the line! 😂
Tomorrow we will have our normal menu as well as lemon bars, cupcakes, cookies, brownies and some other fun treats ❤️
See you all tomorrow

Just reminiscing this morning of some of the true fun we had here with you guys 😭
One of our Yard Parties we did Bratwursts cooked in a tasty brew from Port O'Pints Brewing Co. and 1/2 pound burgers with house toppings, breads and salsas.
There was 24 feet of baked goods that was cocktailed around the yard and refilled over and over.
We were able to serve just under 400 people, for free, in only 3 hours.
We were so slammed with our one chef (who should literally enter some type of game show for the skill he showed that day) and Logan on the grill that we had customers literally glove up and seamlessly step in.
It was so beautiful and heartwarming to watch a true community gathering where everyone was helping others, having fun and just being free spirits (I’m from Santa Cruz, I can’t help being a hippie sometimes ok!)
We had people say afterwards how they thought these people were our family and friends, and while we had no blood relatives here, we did have family. Thank you to those who welcomed us with open arms and hearts. You made our survival and growth possible here.
We love you and we will miss you 😊😭😊
Open 6am to 1pm
This is our final week, come say hi and give me a dang hug you beautiful people you! You don’t need to buy anything, but if you don’t come, I will be forced to stalk you around town over the next couple weeks. Don’t test me!

Something we have always done here was to create a space of safety and kindness, we want people to feel comfortable to be themselves no matter their backgrounds.
We stay true to Muffins and Politics don’t mix, in a world that is so incredibly divisive across the board. So many people have felt like an island and we tried to be a lighthouse.
Following a post like yesterday that really spurred on conversation from all walks of life, is such a good reminder that we are all human and we all deserve a voice to be heard.
So let’s try to take today and listen to someone who is different, give space and respect and while it may not change your mind, it may just solidify your convictions, you at least listened.
Have a wonderful day, Beautiful People.
You are all important, you are all Queens and Kings out there in this crazy world.
** Here is the Zoom link for those who can’t make it in person. I encourage you to email your Supervisor if you can’t attend if you want to voice your opinion, whether for or against, let people know what you think. ****
Hey folks, we had a lot of customers come through this week and express outrage and concern about the direction of the town and the planned location of homeless service centers in our location and surrounding areas at the north 101 gateway.
We have a saying in our bakery: Muffins and Politics don’t mix. We worked hard over the years to uphold that mantra and create a space where everyone could feel welcome. Of course that can’t be 100% but we did our best. The world is a crazy enough place, you don’t need your baker on the soap box at 6am.
But this morning, I’ll stand on mine.
As usual here in Crescent City, there is the adult game of telephone when it comes to information. So I’ll set the record straight from our end and you can take it how you will.
We are moving to Colorado. We have not found this town to be supportive of small business, family growth or economic stability. This is apparent in the countless empty commercial spaces. The ever-growing residential real estate listings as families seek better horizons.
Our current landlords served the 30 day notice to us and are not honoring the continuation of our neighbor’s lease as a requirement of the sale as stated by Mission Possible in order to establish their Navigation Center for the homeless. This happened at the end of November 2023.
We have found in our interactions with public officials that they will say what they need to say to appease whomever they are speaking to, regardless if it aligns with their actions.
The truth is, the County Board of Supervisors is having a public meeting this Tuesday December 12 @ 10am to discuss the budget for the complete overhaul of the north end of town. See Agenda’s items 29 and 31.
They will use this property for a Navigation Center. The old Redwood Welding Building will be a Food Bank. They are removing Search and Rescue (behind Big 5) in order to construct a Pallet Home MicroVillage.
These decisions have not been finalized. The Board of Supervisors for some reason found it a topic not worthy of public announcement. It begs the question: why?
Every small business in town will be affected by this decision as it will affect the likelihood of repeat tourist traffic for annual family vacationers. Multiple low income housing properties will be impacted, many of them families with children who will now be forced into a changed living situation they have not even been notified about.
If you have a problem with this decision about your town, the time to discuss it with your local elected representatives is at that Tuesday meeting. Be prepared to wait a while, it will likely be a long wait. If you have something to say we urge you to be civil, but to clearly address how this decision will positively or negatively impact your life.
If you are planning on going let us know and we will make sure we support your civic engagement with goodies we will bake for you and deliver while you wait, free of charge.
If you are not willing to voice your public opinion in the appropriate forum, you are allowing change to happen in your town that you may or may not agree with.
I believe these services are in need and have a place in town but not to the detriment of small local business. If we destroy the economy, what will we reintegrate the homeless population into?

The sky was a beautiful cotton candy pink and blue this morning so was trying to get a super artsy shot.
There were some birds flying by and I thought, oh yes. Get in there. Give me some movement, some wing action!
I had the tray extended up above my head and kept twisting it around, trying to get THE angle.
I suddenly felt.. watched. I turned slowly around and saw the most seagulls I’ve ever seen on this end of town staring at me from the top of our neighbor’s building.
Needless to say, I ran my little heart out to save these muffins for you.
So come pick up your very own refugee muffin.

Sally was a beach girl who grew up in a beach town by a river in a Redwood forest with a little bit of agriculture nearby. She loved being in the raw Pacific Ocean, exploring the forest, and basking in the sun on the beach. When she grew up, she left the beach and the forest and the river and headed inland to become an award winning teacher. But she always missed the beach, and more specifically, the Sea.
One year when she was visiting her family for Easter, she decided to take the coastal road. As soon as she came over the hill and saw the great blue Sea, something came over her. Without a thought, she pulled the car over, jumped out while it was still running and sprinted in to the Sea, clothes and all. The call of the Sea rewarded her with a shot of that wonderfully refreshing salty goodness she remembered from her youth and made the soggy drive to Easter completely worth the effort. It was also richly humorous for her to experience her son’s embarrassment at his mother running off into the Sea and back.
From that year forward, the first time in any year that Sally saw the Sea, she immediately jumped in. About 4 or 5 years into this annual ritual, she began to carry a spare set of clothes in the car after the New Year, which made the drives home a bit less soggy. Her son did not know it at the time, but this lesson in seizing the experiences that are closest to the heart is an important way to lead a fulfilled life.
When her son met his future wife, Sally had already passed on from the Sea, but he fondly bragged about how carefree his mother was, often regaling her with stories of Sally, how she worked her way through college as a single mom, raised two boys, always had a way of having an instant connection with people, and of course the legend of this annual pilgrimage to the Sea.
His wife, who herself was a beach girl who grew up in a beach town by a river in a Redwood forest with a little bit of agriculture nearby felt a strong connection through these stories to the mother-in-law that she never met, and wished wholeheartedly that she had, because she just knew they would be the fastest of friends.
When the couple moved to Crescent City, a beach town by a river in a Redwood forest with a little bit of agriculture nearby, Sally’s daughter-in-law decided to take all her years of managing small local businesses and put them into Sally’s by the Sea, a place meant to help people grab some refreshments and go enjoy the Sea. She thought that in this way she could share with the public the wonderful way Sally lived her life and carve out a place in her own family where she could spend a little time with Sally every single day.
So grab your goodies, go take a quick drive by the Sea, and if it calls out to you, do what Sally did, pull right over and jump on in!
