My grandfather in law, Marshall J Field, served in WW2 in the Pacific theater in the Army’s Airborne division. Although my wife’s family was lead to believe he was just a telephone guy in the army, the reality was that it was his job to establish communications networks behind enemy lines which, you can imagine was an important and extremely dangerous job considering the work environment. As far as I understand, in the Airborne, you are a soldier first then your assigned job is second. His record shows that he participated in some of the most terrifying operations in the pacific including the battle of Luzon.

We thank you for your service Marshall! And the opportunity to fulfill our dream of farming in the North Fork Valley and helping me rediscover my faith in the lord!

Love ya Grandpa!

The name of our farm “Grateful Fields” has a deep meaning for us. My amazing Grandfather, whose last name was Field, made it possible for us to live here in this beautiful place, living out our dream of farming and homesteading. We are forever grateful for him, hence the name “Grateful Fields”. He did this a few months before he died at the age of 98. Today would’ve been his 100th birthday. And so, Happy Birthday, Grandpa! As I watched the beautiful rainbow this evening I thought of you, smiling down from heaven. Thank you, and I miss you so much. ❤️❤️❤️

It was a difficult day on the farm today. Our goat we call “Spunky” had been in labor over 24 hours, 12 of which she was actively pushing, and no result of baby on her own. We made the decision to help her deliver her twins, and after doing our best, sadly they were both stillborn. As hard as that was, we have had some perspective and silver linings from the experience. We chose this life of living on a farm, and with that comes the constant reality of the cycle of life. It’s hard, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Pictured is Spunky during labor, afterward, and then one of those silver linings….colostrum for any future goat babies that may need it.

Kids!! These girls are getting the hang of bottle feeding and are so so sweet. It is such a joy to see them grow each day. One week old, and they are already jumping around and playing!🥰🐐❤️

Beautiful evening to end a day full of gratitudes! Happy May everyone! 😊❤️

There are days like any other here on the farm, and then there are magical days of new discovery! Our turkeys started laying eggs for the first time! The eggs are roughly twice the size of chicken eggs, therefore double the protein! 😋👏 🦃
