Hey everyone,
If you’ve noticed things have been quiet around here over the last six weeks, I owe you all an update. You deserve to know where I’ve been and why Girl Gone Fermented had to pause.
On August 25th, my kids and I moved from Shelbyville, Tennessee to Coshocton, Ohio. Shortly after arriving, a situation with people we trusted as long-time friends unexpectedly dissolved, and we were asked to leave.
Knowing nobody in the state of Ohio, with nowhere to turn, we found ourselves suddenly homeless. All we had was each other, the clothes on our backs, and my truck.
In the middle of that heartbreak, light started showing up. After two initial nights in a hotel, my children’s school connected us with an incredible local organization. From late September through early October, we moved between hotels until finally securing placement in a local shelter.
Because of this life disruption, I had to make the hardest decision for the betterment of my kids: I had to throw away or sell 100% of my baking tools, equipment, pans, Dutch ovens, and ingredient inventory.
The only thing I managed to save is my sourdough starter. 🥖✨
With a very warm heart and so much gratitude for everyone who was involved we have secured ourselves a home! We moved in two days ago!
Girl Gone Fermented started as a simple, beautiful dream between me and my mom. I am completely determined to bring it back stronger than ever.
Many of you in our community have reached out asking how to support or where to find my Amazon Wish List. I want to be 100% clear: I am not asking for handouts or donations, and no one should feel guilted or forced to buy a single thing.
I initially created this wishlist as a personal master checklist to organize everything I need to replace and the tools I hope to acquire to maximize the business moving forward. Some items are high-ticket aspirational goals; others are basics. I am sharing the link purely because I was asked to post it:

If you do feel compelled to gift an item, please know it is deeply appreciated and will immediately be put to work helping us rebuild. But even if you just send a kind thought, a prayer, or share this page, that means the world to us. Eventually, step by step, I will get back to where we were.
Lastly, walking through homelessness opened my eyes to a world I never fully understood. It changed me. Looking ahead, it is my goal to eventually start a non-profit through Girl Gone Fermented to support families in crisis—or at the very least, donate a portion of our future proceeds directly to the foundation that saved my family when we had nowhere else to go.
Thank you for your patience, your grace, and for being part of this journey with us. We are down, but we are definitely not out.
With all my love and gratitude,
Girl Gone Fermented ❤️
