Going to have to plow again tomorrow.

03/20/2025

Morning to everyone. It's been a while since I posted. Been busy plowing snow, (still)
Yesterday the snow was up over your head lights. No one here to see it. Been good riding.
The snowman is calling for snow today and again on Saturday. We should see another foot on the mountain in the morning.

01/31/2025

Well the snowman is calling any where from 6 inches to 2 ft. It all depends who you listen to. I'm going to say about 10 inches before it's all over.

AVALANCHE CONDITIONS: With snow and strong winds expected through the weekend and into next week, expect the avalanche danger to rise. The more it snows and blows, the more rapidly the danger will rise.

For today, the avalanche danger is LOW.

Have a great weekend where ever you go.

We carry both, Wy. and Mt. permits. Just come in to Bearclaw or the Super 8 motel, to pick them up.

01/27/2025

The temps are going to rise. The snowman is calling for mid to upper 30's for the week.

AVALANCHE CONDITIONS: The avalanche danger is rated LOW.

We do fill avalanche bottles. Also rent beacons, avy packs radio's and probes.

01/26/2025

The snowman is calling for upper 30's for the middle of the week. Could see a chance of now this coming weekend.

AVALANCHE CONDITIONS: Near Cooke City and West Yellowstone a person can trigger avalanches that break many feet deep on weak snow near the bottom of the snowpack. A recent very large persistent slab avalanche broke south of Cooke City within the last 2-3 days.
The avalanche danger is MODERATE.

01/20/2025

Brrrrrrrrr cold. It's a mild 35 below this morning.

AVALANCHE CONDITIONS: Additionally, wind slab avalanches can be triggered where the recent snow has been drifted into soft slabs up to 1-2 feet thick. Assess the snowpack for unstable drifts, assess the terrain for consequences like cliffs, trees and gullies, and remember even a small slide can easily knock you down. Human-triggered avalanches are possible and the avalanche danger is MODERATE near Cooke City.

01/19/2025

We have very light snow falling and could see a couple of inches by tonight. The snowman is still calling for below zero temps for the next couple of days.

AVANACHE CONDITIONS: Additionally, wind slab avalanches can be triggered where the recent snow has been drifted into soft slabs up to 1-2 feet thick. Assess the snowpack for unstable drifts, assess the terrain for consequences like cliffs, trees and gullies, and remember even a small slide can easily knock you down. It's a cool 10 below this morning. The snowman isn't calling for snow for at least a couple of days. As soon as this cold weather get through, we should see snow coming back in.

It's been a wild ride with all the snow we've been getting.

Since yesterday morning the mountains near Bozeman, Big Sky and Cooke City got 2-5” of low density snow, and zero fell near West Yellowstone and Island Park. Since Friday night snowfall totals are:

16-20” (1.2-1.3” Snow Water Equivalent (SWE)) in the Bridger Range and Hyalite.
9” (0.6” SWE) in Big Sky, with 12”+ in favored locations like the south face of Lone Mtn.
8” (0.6” SWE) in Cooke City.

The avalanche danger is CONSIDERABLE on wind loaded slopes and MODERATE on all other slopes.
