Join the Franklin County Sheriff's Department as we partner with the Brookville Police Department and Stayin' Alive LCC, for our annual National Night Out. Our officers will be at the Heap/Hofer Aquatic Center in Brookville on Tuesday, August 4th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Stop by and meet our officers, get a free burger or hotdog, chips and water. This is a free event, including access to the aquatic center during that time. The event is funded by grants through Stayin' Alive LCC. We hope to see you there!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Friday, June 12, 2026, deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a location in eastern Franklin County after human skeletal remains were discovered in a rural area.

Investigators responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. The Franklin County Coroner was notified and has requested assistance from the University of Indianapolis Human Identification Center Forensic Anthropology Team to aid in the examination and identification of the remains.

The investigation remains ongoing. No additional information is being released at this time. Further details will be provided as they become available.
