Good morning bread friends! I thought I would give you an update. I’ve had several medical appointments in the last month. I’ve been addressing issues with my neck and numbness in my hands. I’m currently doing physical therapy and hoping that provides some relief. Wilma (my sourdough starter) continues to be fed but sadly spends more time in the refrigerator now. I have been able to do a few small bakes over the last month. I was invited to speak about my bread business at an upcoming ladies gathering so I’m preparing for that. I find myself in a time of transition and uncertainty. I miss my routine and I miss baking for my bread customers. Once again God is reminding me to trust him because he has a plan. As I look back on this wild bread adventure I can see God’s hand in all of it and it amazes me. The following is an excerpt from the book A Baker’s Year by Tara Jensen. I attended one of her classes at the Asheville Bread Festival in 2023.
“To love in baking is to remain present. Herein lies the health benefit: the practice of caring. The quality of care you can extend to the bread is related to the quality of care you provide yourself.”
