Mountainview Sweets is truly a work of God. On July 3, 2014 my life changed forever when my beloved husband, Russell left this earth for Heaven. It took many months before I realized that God left me on this earth for a purpose such as this. I began praying for God to give me something productive to fill my days.
One day as I was browsing through Facebook, I saw a video of a lady decorating a sugar cookie and I was mesmerized. I followed her page and started watching in amazement at the talent she had for turning a simple cookie into something so beautiful! Her name was Amber Spiegel, a cookie artist in Beacon, New York. It was the first time in almost a year that I felt a spark of excitement. One day Amber posted a cookie class she was offering. It filled up almost immediately. I contacted her and she told me that she also offered private classes so I signed up! I asked my sweet daughter, Katy if she would like to go with me and take the two day class and she said Yes!
August 5, 2015 - off we went to New York! Watching a video of cookie artistry is far different than actually doing it yourself! Amber said that nothing could take the place of practice, practice, practice. We came back home two days later with our boxes of decorated cookies that actually turned out pretty good, considering!
October 22, 2015 was the first time I displayed decorated sugar cookies I had made. Sharon McKinnon, owner of Wonderful Things graciously allowed me to display my cookies in her store during one of her events. I was so nervous but excited! From that day forward, I began taking orders for cookies from friends. This gave me time to try out different techniques and work on making my cookies better each time. Mountainview Sweets was a name suggested by my son, Brandon and it fit perfectly for me! Family and friends encouraged me through every cookie design!
April 14, 2017 found me sitting at Sonic holding my phone and staring at the page I created for Mountainview Sweets. I was so very nervous to tap on the Publish button to make my page go live! I took a deep breath, pushed the button and started my very own bakery!
Today I am so very humbled by the support I have from so many sweet and caring friends and family. I can’t thank all of you enough!!! God has blessed me so wonderfully with a home based business that allows me to meet so many people and share in their celebrations and holidays. God knew I needed to be around people and he knew that I needed a challenge that would keep me busy. My heart is full!
