As we step into winter on this solstice day, I can’t help but reflect on 2023 in awe. This was unexpectedly a really big year for Hart and Batter, and was my first official wedding season all on my own. I made big moves this year to get my home kitchen set up for success, including buying another fridge for ingredient storage and a cart for delivery. I even made an insanely huge insulated cake box that fits all my three tiered cakes. 💪
Throughout the earlier part of 2023 I attended my first ever wedding show, consulted with couples handled bookings, and fully baked/decorated several wedding cakes single-handedly for my tiny apartment kitchen. (Huge shout out to my partner Tyler for always coming with me on cake deliveries and lifting these massive cakes— sometimes without even being asked! My sister deserves a shout out too for always sharing my work, and even coming to be my delivery buddy for my very first wedding with H&B. 🥰 )
In addition to an amazing wedding season, I got to challenge myself creatively by making my first ever realistic fondant shoe, an epic black wedding cake with handpainted flowers, and even got my cake featured in a local magazine (thanks again !)
I cannot express how much your support means to a small business like mine. Thank you to everyone for your referrals, your reviews, your likes, and your shares. I only hope that 2024 is filled with even more creative and epic cakes. Take care of yourselves. 💜
