We rolled out a brand-new side item last week: Southwest Pasta Salad. It was a huge hit! It's inspired by our southwest chickpea salad, a seasonal offering. This pasta salad features the same smoky flavor from our chipotle mayo, and featured roasted red peppers, black beans, corn and cilantro.

Available daily as an included meal side with sandwiches and wraps, as an a la carte side, or by the 8 or 16 oz container in the grab & go fridge.

Greetings to all! We wanted to let you know that tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, June 9, meal service will be paused for about 45 minutes to an hour, so that our meal service team can get a large catering order put together.

So, if you're looking for breakfast or anything on the all-day lunch menu, please either come in right when we open at 7 am (or soon after) or wait until after 8:30 am.

This will NOT impact the making of coffee or selling of pastries! All of that will function as normal. This is only about meal service out of the savory kitchen.

We appreciate your understanding and patience! (And if you think you, too, might want to place a catering order, let us know.)

Good evening! Thank you for marking our 6th anniversary with a great week at B's. We got to see many more of you, and we were excited to make lots of breakfast burritos. lots of cupcakes, lots of pop tarts and lots of coffees! Please do keep showing up - for us, for other small businesses. Every visit counts!

We have some new things debuting this week; we are responding to customer feedback about a recent change; and we have a special notice about breakfast on Tuesday morning! Read on for all the details and, as always, please know how much we appreciate you.

Fun Guatemala note: we are hosting a group of seven in Antigua Guatemala this week, wrapping up on Thursday. This is part of the part-vacation, part-education, part-experiential tours we lead multiple times a year. Follow along on our social media, and read more below to learn more about these trips!

June Bakery Menu

The June pastry menu has arrived, and with it came some new and returning flavors! Once again, we took our previous cake-by-the-slice flavor (Chocolate with Cherry) and turned it into a cupcake! It joins a longtime favorite - Churro - as the other cupcake for the month (pictured above, with the Oatmeal Carmelita).

We also brought back a classic summer pop tart - Peach - along with a newer addition to the menu, Raspberry Frangipane (both pictured below, with Maple Oat muffin). If you're not familiar with frangipane, it's the creamy almond filling that typically goes inside almond croissants! For this pop tart, we fill the inside with both frangipane and raspberry jam, and then top it with a raspberry glaze after baking.

Remember: anything on the June bakery menu can be ordered ahead - either in-person or online - until 1 pm the day before. After that, everything (except cookies) is walk-in only!

New Meal Items & A Change Back!

We rolled out a brand-new pasta salad this past week, Southwest, and it was a huge hit! Featuring the same smoky flavors of chipotle and red peppers that were in our seasonal southwest chickpea salad, it's become an instant staff favorite.

Also rolling out this coming week will be the ability to order lunchboxes for catering! Customizable by sandwich/wrap type, along with picking all the right sides and even including a cookie. These will have a half-dozen order minimum, and will be available for delivery as well as pickup. Keep your eyes on the website and the social channels for the official launch.

Finally, based on customer feedback, we are rolling back our avocado mash to its original chunky form. We've always mashed it by hand and left it kind of rustic, but recently switched it up to a blended version for a smoother product. Turns out, many of you miss the old way! So it's coming back. Thank you, as always, for sharing your feedback with us!

SUPER IMPORTANT: We have a large breakfast catering order on Tuesday morning, which will need to be ready at 8:30 am. Because of this, we will likely have to pause preparation of any breakfast meals for 30-45 minutes as that time approaches.

If you want breakfast on Tuesday morning, to be safest:
1) Come in before 7:30.
2) Come in after 8:30.

Our Group Trip This Week

We are excited to be leading our sixth group trip to Guatemala. This is a private trip for three generations of a family! They picked their own dates, custom-designed their itinerary and are having a great time. We even got to do a few things we've never done before in Antigua!

Antigua Guatemala has year-round highs in the upper 70s, and lows in the 50's. Little humidity, and January - in particular - is the height of the dry season. Sunny days and cool nights....it's a wonderful combination!

All trips participants get to stay at Porta Hotel Antigua, an eco-friendly and beautiful hotel property. All rooms are in the garden area of the hotel, facing the lush grounds and/or the swimming pool. You'll eat wonderful food, walk through and learn about this incredible colonial city, and have unparalleled experiences in this mile-high valley that sits at the base of three volcanoes. And you get the two of us as your personal tour guides!

It's Saturday morning! Wake up and enjoy a B's breakfast sandwich. Two eggs (fried or scrambled) - or vegan JustEgg - along with your choice of traditional or vegan cheese, your choice of one of our five housemade mayos. It's served on our country sourdough bread, or you can upgrade to our gluten-free bread if you need that option!

You can also amp it up by adding our "coconut bacon," avocado mash, pickled onions, pickled jalapeños, heirloom tomato, or caramelized onions! (Want to know the David version? I go with fried eggs, pesto mayo, vegan provolone, coconut bacon and caramelized onions).

Available daily on the breakfast menu! Order ahead or just walk-in and order. Breakfast service ends at 10:20 on weekdays and 11 :00 on Saturdays!

There might be no better way to start your day than with one of our cinnamon rolls, fresh out of the oven. Crispy edges, a soft interior, and a rich cinnamon and brown sugar filling layered throughout the curves.

Get there later in the day? We will warm it up in the toaster oven, if you'd like! Have it on its own, pair it with your coffee, or get a few to bring home or to the office or classroom.

Take a look at the beautiful featured pastries for June! We've got all sorts of fun flavors for you, from a summery peach pop tart with our housemade jam, to the churro-inspired cupcake loaded with cinnamon sugar flavor!

These items will be available throughout the month of June, and can be found every day in the pastry case! You can walk in and get what you want, or you can order ahead (no later than 1 pm the day before).

Every day we are open, as soon as the breakfast service ends, the B's Burger Bar begins! Today's focus is on the Black Bean Burger, one of two daily delicious options. You get a housemade black bean patty, housemade avocado mash, housemade pickled red onions, and your choice traditional or vegan cheese.

It's all served on a housemade bun, or you can switch to housemade sourdough or housemade gluten-free bread. Housemade, housemade, housemade....yes, we do nearly everything we can in our kitchen!

Comes with your choice of a B's side dish: a rotating selection of pasta salads, veggie slaws, side salads, and more. You can upgrade to a bag of chips, a cup of soup or a half salad, too!

Available starting at 10:30 am, Tuesday to Friday, and 11:10 am on Saturdays. Lunch service ends at 2 pm (1:45 pm on Saturdays). Order ahead or just walk in!

June 2, 2020 - the doors swung open at our original location, inside the Factory at Columbia. Our lives and waistlines have never been the same!

Thanks to everyone for your support! From a pandemic-restricted start to an expanded menu to a new location, it’s been quite the roller coaster. Over 100,000 cookies. Over 100,000 pastries. Over 50,000 lunches. All because of you and your love for what we do!

We, of course, couldn’t do it also without our amazing staff - many of whom have been with us for a lot of this journey. Thanks to all our wonderful crew, present and past. And also to our amazing landlord, Stephen! We are so lucky.

It’s hard to be a small business right now, increasingly so in the food world. We want to keep going - as do many of our small business friends. Please keep showing up. Please shop small. Please shop local.

June is here and with it is a brand-new menu of pastries and other delights!

Making a triumphant return after last June's debut engagement is the Raspberry Frangipane pop tart. If you're not familiar, frangipane is the almond cream filling best known for being inside of almond croissants. For this pop tart, we have a generous dollop of B's frangipane and some B's raspberry jam inside the dough, and it's finished with raspberry glaze and sliced almonds on top.

REMINDER: All items on the current bakery menu are available daily in the pastry case, on a first-come, first-served basis to our walk-in customers. However, if you're the kind of person who likes to plan ahead, you can order up until 1 pm the day before, either on our website or in-person. (Cookies are the exception - they can be ordered for same-day pickup, with a two hour lead time.) After the 1 pm deadline passes, every for the next day is walk-in only.

We close the door on another month today and what a momentous occasion it is! Why? Well, on Tuesday, we will celebrate SIX YEARS of being open as a brick-and-mortar business. We began as a bakery, added lunch, then breakfast, and then a full coffee/espresso experience.

This growth wouldn't have happened with you all of you! And we'd like to see many more years, but that also can't happen without you. It is a difficult time to be in the retail business as well as the food business. Everything costs more - and we know things cost more for you, too!

Business is slower for B's and for many of our small business friends. We know every dollar counts - for you and for us. So, please, whenever possible - shop small, come see us, and allow us to keep doing what we've been doing!

We appreciate you so much and look forward to baking, cooking and pouring coffee for you, your friends, your family and more for years to come.

June Bakery Menu Launches

The June pastry menu has arrived, and with it comes some new and returning flavors! Once again, we are taking our previous cake-by-the-slice flavor (Chocolate with Cherry) and turned it into a cupcake! It joins a longtime favorite - Churro - as the other cupcake for the month.

Meanwhile, we are going to try keeping banana bread mini loaves in the case and ALSO bring in a bright, citrusy Mini Lemon Loaf!

And don't forget the Oatmeal Carmelita, which launched a few days early (pictured below). An oat-and-brown-sugar crust, dark chocolate, pecans and caramel on top. Yum!

Egg Salad Sandwiches Are Back!

It's summer time, and we know many of you have egg salad on the mind (because you keep asking when it'll be back!). Our egg salad sandwich is back, featuring our housemade egg salad (including plenty of fresh dill), pickled red onions, green leaf lettuce, and your choice of B's mayos. The default version is served on our country sourdough, but you can also get this as a wrap, or on housemade gluten-free bread (+$2).

As all of our sandwiches do, it comes with one of our housemade sides - and broccoli salad is another seasonal feature! The full listing of all current sides is on the little chalkboard by the register, and also on the online ordering buttons.

While we nearly always ensure all menu items are vegan or have a vegan complement, the egg salad sandwich is the exception. While fully vegetarian, this sandwich does contain real eggs and is not available in a plant-based version.

Ordering Policy Reminders

We are so happy to continue having new people find us! So this seems like a good time to share some of our most frequently used policies:

PHONE ORDERS - We don't accept them. It's led to miscommunications in the past, when one side didn't hear the other correctly and the wrong item(s) were made or ordered. We are happy to answer questions, if you're curious about anything, but we don't put through breakfast, lunch, pastry, coffee or special orders.

You can order on our website, or you can order in-person. Need more detailed, specialized help? Send us an email and we can build an invoice or proposal for you! You can also text us and we can either write back to you in more detail or call you at a time when the counter isn't busy!

HOLDS - Same as the above, basically. We don't hold or set items aside. We used to, then people wouldn't show up. We'd close and then have wasted, unsold food.

You can order any and all current bakery offerings up to 1 pm the day before, whether online or in person. Meals can be ordered same-day, but online orders do close 45 minutes before the end of each meal service. If it says "sold out" online for the current day, but it's still during our meal service window, that means we've moved to in-person only.

MODIFICATIONS - Whether it's related to the above, or something you are trying to change or adjust in person: please know that if our staff say that we aren't able to do something, it's because we've told them to. Especially in regards to meal service, we have a tight area on the stove and we can only introduce so many variables. If you don't see the option on an ordering button, or our staff don't, then it's not something we are able to do on the fly.

This also applies to requesting changes to items in the comment section during checkout online. If the option isn't there, it's probably not something we can do.

However....we are always open to ideas and suggestions! Is there a modification or menu adjustment you'd like to see? Feel free to tell our staff (who will pass that on to us) or send us a message. We've made many changes before based on customer feedback! It's just usually not possible in-the-moment.
