Over the past year, some folks have asked, “What has Chef Ed Diller been doing with himself lately?”
Ed meets regularly with his friend Andy (Ed’s Covid Curbside Pickup Sidekick), to talk about good food and local real estate. This time they met for Happy Hour at 401 Prime in Lancaster. Thanks Bill B, for joining and capturing the photo op.
Then, Ed and his talented baker wife Ellen, make a regular trip to Wegmans to shop for their own dinners. Today, when Ed is not cooking for two at home, he is part of the team in the kitchen at the Log Cabin Restaurant in Leola.
Many Lancastrians can remember Ed at Jethro’s all those years ago.(Remembering the Tapenade to start your dinner) Ed is happy to hear that Jethro’s has recently been sold to a known local food entrepreneur who hopes to revive the vibe of a neighborhood tavern.
Gypsy Kitchen was the second labor of love for Ed and Ellen. Many Lancastrians and local organizations looked forward to having a party or event catered by GK. Their creative cuisine and welcoming service was complemented by the beautiful Refectory Room at the Lancaster Theological Seminary.
Ed continues to report that he just wants to keep cooking instead of thinking about retiring.
